Dushane's mum had gotten sicker. She was nearing... you know. That's how sick. Her eyes would hardly open and she wouldn't say anything except mumble, sigh, groan and just breath softly. All Dushane could really do was keep her comfortable and somewhat happy.

I was chilling in Jaq's room when I heard the window smash downstairs. What the fuck? Jaq had a key, why would she smash the window? I was alone in the house as Jaq's mum wasn't home and Jaq had gone to check on Lauryn.

I could hear voices downstairs and slowly edged off the bed, making sure the bed springs didn't creak. I tiptoed across the room and poked my head around the door, the voices were more defined. They were all Scouse accents. Then I recognised one of the voices distinctively, Curtis.

I had to think fast.

I walked softly across the hall and into the bathroom. I didn't shut the door, I stood behind it and pulled my phone out and called Jaq. "Jaq," I whispered.

"What's up? You alright?"

"Someone just broke into the fucking house, I think it's Curtis and his fucking sister," I whispered into the phone, "The fuck should I do?"

"Wait there, I'm nearly home," She said, "In the back of the toilet is a strap, yeah, take it to protect yourself if you need to and stay hidden. Go to my mums room and hide in the bed. Don't make a sound."

"Alright," I replied and then hung up the phone. I put it in my pocket and then moved towards the toilet. I removed the lid of the back and glanced inside, the gun was wedged at the bottom and I managed to squeeze it out.

I gripped it tightly and then tiptoed down the hall. "Search upstairs," I heard Curtis say. I moved swiftly into her mums bedroom. She had an Ottoman bed so I carefully lifted it up and wedged myself in. I pulled the bed back down and gripped the gun. The position was uncomfortable, I felt claustrophobic as fuck and I was squashed between random shit but I had to.

I was scared, too.

Lauryn told me how psycho these people were and if they caught me they'd fucking hurt me. Tears balanced on the rim of my eyes and I let them fall, but quickly put a hand over my mouth so my heavy breathing and sobbing wouldn't be heard.

I could hear footsteps near me and held the gun tighter. I heard a bunch of stuff be chucked on the floor and I could hear more talking, but I couldn't decipher the words. Then, I heard a woman come into the bedroom, "There's nobody here," She said, it was muffled but I could hear her because of the range.

Soon, the three left and I let out a heavy breath. I loosened my grip on the gun and got out from inside the bed. I went back into the bathroom and replaced the gun where it was.

Then, I heard more movement downstairs. The door unlocked so I knew that Jaq was home. I went downstairs and she was looking around the house. "Jaq, they're gone," I told her. She looked up and saw my tear stained face.

She pulled me into a hug and tucked my head in her shoulder, "It's alright," She mumbled, then pulled out of the hug, "Did they take anything?" She asked, I shrugged.

"I don't know," I said, "They smashed the window and searched the house for Lauryn," I explained, "I hid in your mums bed like you told me to, I put the gun back,"

"Alright," She replied and went upstairs to check around.

Later on, I was at Shelley's nail bar helping Naomi. Naomi and I were pretty good friends, whenever Shelley was out on appointments, I stepped in to help her out. It was quiet at the nail bar so we were just chatting while Naomi typed on her computer. I was waffling to her about my hair.
