Ivy Swan is the epitome of beauty. Other girls envy her because she is "too perfect." Her skin is too clear, she's always nice, valedictorian, and captain of the lacrosse team, every guy wanted to be with her whilst every girl wants to be her.
Ivy can't complain though. She knows she's pretty and she has a pretty good life. But she's still insecure. Her nose is too small, her legs are huge, her back looks weird. But she carries herself with such confidence that it's easily hidden. She doesn't let her insecurities get her down. Not in public.
And while all of this is true there's one thing that's not. Girls assume that Ivy has experienced love before because who wouldn't want a girl like that?! But they're wrong. She's never had her first kiss. Never held hands with a boy before. Nothing. Her love life is equivalent to her divorced dad.
Ivy is lonely. She wants love. Craves it. But she's scared. Scared that she is going to end up like her mom and dad. She doesn't want her kids to grow up in a single-parent household. It was hard going away from her dad to spend time with her mom every summer. She was always closer to her dad. After a while, it felt weird going to visit her mom. So, after she turned thirteen she stopped visiting.
Calls became less frequent from both her mom and Bella. After her mom got remarried she cut all ties with Ivy. At first, it hurt. A lot. Because even though they weren't close it's still her mom. But after a while, she realized that she only ever needed her dad. The two were like peas in a pod. You rarely saw one without the other.
So when Ivy got a text from her dad telling her to meet at the diner she hopped into her 1965 black ford mustang and headed without hesitation. Pulling up she saw Mike and his friends throwing the ball outside.
"Wassup Ivy," Mike said as she got out of her car.
"Hey Mike," she replied walking into the diner.
She wasn't friends with Mike and his group but since the town is so small everybody knows everybody she always greeted him with a nod or smile.
"Hey kiddo," Charlie, her dad, said as she sat down.
"Hey Dad," Ivy replied with a smile as she saw that he ordered her a grilled chicken salad.
"So, your mother just called," Charlie said as he watched his daughter take a bite of her salad.
"And," Ivy asked.
"Bella's moving in with us," Charlie said watching her reaction.
Ivy stopped chewing for a second and analyzed Charlie's face to see if he was joking or not. After a moment she realized he wasn't so she swallowed her food and took a sip of water before speaking.
"Oh. Why," she asked.
She and Bella still talked about twice a month. They weren't as close as they used to be but at least she didn't cut contact with her like her mother did.
"Your mom wants to go on the road with Phil. So she's gonna come here," he said cutting his steak.
"When are you going to get her," she asked.
"Next Monday. Do you want to go?"
"I have practice that day."
"You don't have a game until two weeks," Charlie said confused.
"I know. But I want us to be in the best shape so we can kick ass this year and win champs," she said smirking.
"You can skip one day though right," Charlie said trying to convince her.
"No. Why are you so adamant about me going?"
Charlie sighed looking around before leaning in, "It's going to be awkward Ivy please go with me."
Ivy laughed while she shook her head, "You'll be able to survive an hour car ride with her. You need to get used to it."
"I don't know what she likes," Charlie exasperated.
"Here. I'll decorate her room for you so when you get home you can take all the credit for it and it will make up for the small talk in the car."
"Deal," Charlie said rolling his eyes but smiling slightly.

Monday finally rolled around meaning that Isabella Swan will be arriving at Forks today and while Ivy was excited she was also nervous. Practice just let out and Ivy was the last one to leave. Trying to stall a little bit so she can prepare herself to see her sister.
"It's not a big deal or anything. It's not like you haven't seen her in five years or anything," Ivy said talking to herself as a nervous habit as she was driving home.
She pulled up to the house seeing the truck Billy gifted her for her homecoming present. She parked her car and got out hearing noise coming from inside. As she opened the door she saw Jake, Billy, and Charlie watching a football game on the TV.
She took her shoes off at the door before placing her water bottle in the kitchen sink. She walked into the living room to see what teams were playing.
"The Bengals versus the Chiefs," she exasperated, "boo! They're boring."
"Don't hate because your team sucks ass," Jake said.
Ivy pushed the back of his head before walking upstairs. She presumed Bella was in her room since she didn't see her on the lower level of the house. She was right. Bella's door was cracked slightly so Ivy took a deep breath before knocking on it.
"Come in," she heard.
She opened the door and Bella looked up. A huge smile made its way onto her face. She got up and hugged Ivy tightly. Ivy held her with the same amount of tightness.
"I missed you," Bella exclaimed.
"I missed you more," Ivy replied as they broke away.
The two sat on the bed side by side. Just like they used to when they were kids.
"Charlie did a good job decorating my room," Bella said looking around in awe.
"Yea. He did," Ivy said hiding her smile, "So, you excited about school tomorrow."
"No," Bella groaned, "I don't like attention."
"After the first day you will be fine," Ivy said nudging her shoulder a bit.
The two sat there and talked until midnight. Ivy biding goodnight and making her way to her room. When she got there she immediately changed into pajamas and brushed her teeth and hair before opening her book. But she quickly grew tired and closed it before turning off the lamp and falling asleep.
