lilith and athena were deep in conversation about the whole situation and how chris supposedly didn't know what was going on when there was a knock at the door.
"do you want to get it or me?" lilith asked.
athena thought for a second but figured both matt and nick tagged along so she thought it was best for lilith to answer the door and her and chris go upstairs to talk privately. "you get it im sure the boys are with him and i want to talk to him alone." she spoke as lilith nodded, jumped up and walked to the door opening it revealing a disheveled chris while nick and matt stood awkwardly in the background.
"athena's in there she said she wanted to talk privately so i'm sure she'll take you upstairs." lilith said moving so the boys could come through. chris immediately said thank you and walked off towards athena as they went upstairs while the other two boys went into the living room with lilith.
"i don't even know what's going on." nick said making lilith raise her brows. "i'm still confused on how chris doesn't know what's going on."
matt and nick looked at one another for a spilt second before matt decided to ask the question they'd been wanting to ask since calling lilith. "what happened?"
"chris lied about not talking to this girl who messaged athena and even sent proof." she said sadly because she knew her friend did not deserve any of this.
"what girl?" nick asked a little too curiously.
lilith shrugged, "her names evie," she paused, "no wait it's ivy i think."
after she said that both the boys rolled their eyes and started mumbling.
"what?" lilith asked confused.
"that's chris' ex who will not stop messaging him. she's basically obsessed with him and won't stop no matter what he tells her." nick answered making lilith feel guilty but at the same time there was photo proof.
meanwhile, athena and chris were both upstairs as chris was trying to figure out what was going on.
"i don't know what i lied about. i don't even know what's going on." he said as athena got pissed off.
"stop lying chris! you do know!" she answered back furiously making chris try to think of what he could've possibly lied about without knowing but nothing came to his mind.
he put his head in his hands looking up at her, "i'm not lying, i have no clue what the hell is going on." he answered seriously.
athena noticed how serious his tone was and decided if he wasn't going to say anything she definitely was. "chris i asked you if you were messaging ivy and you said no but you were and you know it." she said making chris sit up widening his eyes.
"huh? ivy?" he said finally putting the pieces together. he figured ivy tried to get to athena and successfully did it, she's done it before which is why a lot of his past relationships ended in failure. "shit." he muttered immediately pulling his phone out going to instagram and giving athena his phone.
she was hesitant to take it at first but grabbed it and was met with an overwhelming amount of messagings from ivy to chris. most talked about how he needed her to some even saying i'm sorry over and over again. athena read the most recent one which said, "i know you still love me christopher, so break up with that girlfriend of yours and call me."
at that moment, athena felt guilt and shame eating her alive and especially for believing this crazed girl over her own boyfriend. she thought back to the messages she had sent her and the so called proof and saw nothing of it in these messages, only ivy attempting to win chris back and only sometimes chris replying to stop messaging him.
"chris." athena said looking up at him, "i'm so sorry. i feel so stupid i should've never believed her."
chris immediately pulled athena in for a hug kissing her forehead softly. "don't feel stupid, she's done this before. i'm just glad you let me talk to you and explain." he replied pulling away and kissing her softly.
"i still feel bad." she said sadly.
"don't. it's not your fault, it's hers." he said tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. "does this mean i still get to be your boyfriend?" he chuckled trying to diffuse some of the tension.
athena hit him playfully giggling, "yes chris you still get to be my boyfriend." she said kissing him and smiling.
even though she still felt guilty, she was happy that for once in her life there was finally someone who genuinely liked her and would never purposely break her heart.

and i'm so incredibly upset to hear about the loss of a talented and genuine sweet person ik this has absolutely nothing to do with the triplets or this book but i honestly was so heartbroken to hear angus cloud passed away ☹️🕊️
