As they walked back to Kanai's house, Sanemi was lost in his thoughts. Finally, he had mustered the courage to tell her how he truly felt, and the outcome had been better than he ever could have hoped for. He had been so afraid that he would lose her forever, but now he realized that he never would. They would face the challenges of their world side by side, and he knew that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even notice that they had arrived at her house. She stopped in front of the door and turned to face him. "Thank you for walking me home," she said, a small smile on her face.

He smiled back at her, unable to believe how lucky he was to have found such an amazing woman to spend the rest of his life with. "Anytime," he said, taking her hand in his own. "I'll always be here for you, no matter what."

They stood there for a moment, just enjoying the presence of one another. Then, without warning, she leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips. He was caught entirely off guard, but he didn't object. He welcomed it. This was what he had always wanted, and now he had it. With her by his side, he knew that he could face anything that the world threw at them and that they would always come out stronger on the other side.
