You patiently waited in your room, counting seconds on the clock. Your mother would call you out any second to meet your future husband. You never felt the need to get married at such a young age but being the first daughter in the family, you never had a choice.

Your attention turned towards the shut door as you heard deep laughter from the other side, the type of laugh that caused nervousness in the pit of your stomach.

At last your mothers sweet and tender voice spoke, bringing you back to the present rather than the mans voice, after all, you would be meeting him very soon.

Gently pushing open the door, you took a step out cautiously not daring to look up as nervousness began to fill your stomach.

"This is the girl?"

A gasp left your lips as you heard his voice again. It was deep and coarse which made your heart flutter, but right now it felt like he seemed disappointed with you.

He let out a hum before he got up and began to inspect you from every angle, and yet you never looked up once. The last time you did that, you were deemed arrogant for looking up to someone of high status who would have been your husband.

You remember the lecture your parents had given you that day. Being a woman in your own family was a sin, mainly because all the men were misogynists.

The man let out an approving sigh before taking a step back from you, finally allowing you to let out the breath you had been holding in due to nervousness.

"I suppose she is fine." he stopped himself from speaking more as looked at her over again. Her demeanor wasn't as confident as he would want his future wife to be, but he had to agree as this was a meeting set for him by the king himself.

The king, a man who was kind and just. He supported those who were right and punished those who were wrong. He was the type of ruler many people long to have, and this kingdom was lucky enough to have him.

It had been noticed by the king that his most trusted general always seemed to devote himself to work and nothing else, and when he consulted him about it he was shocked to hear that the general had no other personal duties to attend to, as he lacked family.

Of course the kind ruler knew that his general would oppose the idea of getting married if he were to ask him at that moment.
