"Good work." I patted Boss on the shoulder as he sheathed his sword and wiped the sweat off his face.
"You as well." He chuckled, patting me back. "Considering the fact that you've holed yourself up in your office for the past year."
"That's not true." I rolled my eyes and I pulled a shirt on, which stuck to my sweaty body.
"Oh right, Your office AND your room, so I guess you got some air." He retorted.
"I was experiencing a lack of interest to do things, Boss. I can't even begin to explain it." I sighed, taking a seat on the bench. "I didn't want to see anyone, eat anything or even get up, of course I couldn't ignore my duties. But I just.... nothing felt right."
Boss looked down at me, startled to hear something as such come out of my mouth. Pity. But I didn't want that. "I'm okay now. I'm better." I assured him.
Lies
"Really?"
No
"Wat, before we were your subordinates, we were you best friends. Your brothers." Boss went on, taking a seat beside me. "You can confide in us."
"I've moved past it." I pursed my lips, appeasing his mind.
But that was no more than a lie. It's never left me.
I walked back to my room to bathe the dirt and sweat from my body. My muscles ached from the intensive training I did after a year.
After something happened.
As I though of that heavily fogged memory my feet came to a stop, in front of that room. The room that held the secret to the events, which were missing slots in my timeline. Ones that I wasn't ready to unleash.
Waking up in this room that morning was fresh in my memory as if it was the day before. My feet shuffled against the ground as I continued walking to my room.
(Flashback)
My body ached, cringing against the cold ground as I came to. I had fallen asleep on the ground.
The ground?
What was I doing on the ground?
I sat up, my knees immediately pulled themselves in towards my chest.
Why does my heart hurt so fucking much?
My eyes darted to the window where the sunlight poured in, stopping at my feet.
There was something about this day that felt like something was missing.
Something.
A knock fell at my door before the door opened behind me, I didn't bother turning. My eyes were glued to the ground. Searching. For what?
"M'lord?" Mans voice interrupted my thoughts. I squeezed my eyes shut. "Why are you on the floor?" He inquired but I didn't even know the answer to that question.
"What did I do last night?" I inquired back, trumping his question.
"Last night? You-" Man spoke hesitantly as his voice cut off into silence. "Forgive me, sir. I don't know." He continued, surprised by his own answer.
"I don't either." I added, staring at the window.
I can't put my finger on it.
On what?
I don't even know that.
I got up, feeling hesitant about leaving the room. But something in here made my heart feel as though it was tormented. "I don't think I slept well." I scoffed to myself, rubbing my forehead as I turned around and left the room, allowing the door close behind me.
