A term in Chinese called "white moonlight" pertains to an unattainable yet unforgettable love. It is the perfect definition of who Shen is to Xiu.

It was Monday that day. Coming from L Town and travelling all the way to City B, the carsick Xiu, who didn't get enough sleep but had to wake up early, was worried whether she could last long without vomiting.

She slept at about 1 in the morning and woke up at 3:20 AM. She washed up, changed into a brown shirt tucked inside black jeans, and got her small backpack ready. She was accepted as one of the students from around their province to receive educational assistance. Perhaps it's not much for others, but 3000 yuan is already a lot of money for their small single-parent household.

She, along with whom she can consider as her childhood friends, was accepted. They talked and decided to meet up with one another at 4:30 in the morning. After that, they were to go to the actual meeting place at 5:00 AM, where the designated van that would come to pick them up would stop over.

Xiu only remembered that it was cold that day, and she forgot to bring her jacket. One of the reasons she didn't get a jacket was because she felt her shirt was thick enough, and the second reason was because her backpack was so small that the jacket wouldn't fit in there.

Question: A jacket is meant to be worn, so why would it need to be stuffed into a backpack?

The thing is, in Xiu's province, it is cold early in the morning until 8 o'clock, and then the temperature will get hotter after that. Xiu is very afraid of the cold but hates the heat. Thus, the jacket needs to be taken off, and to make it more convenient for her to carry, it also has to fit in her backpack.

That early morning, aside from being slightly cold and sleepy, Xiu actually felt rather good. The sun hadn't risen yet, and the sky was still dark. She saw the sky's changing colours as the sun rose while she waited for her friends. Then, together with her friends, they walked and talked along the way towards the actual meeting place.

It was in this meeting place that Xiu met Shen.

You really can't call it a love at first sight. Actually, it really wasn't love at first sight. Xiu had seen Shen being dropped off, perhaps by a relative, and walked towards the rows of tables and chairs of a convenience store where she and her friends were sitting as they waited for the van. The convenience store was by the side of the road, and it was indeed 'convenient' if they remained there.

Xiu saw Shen approach their direction and sat beside her friend, who was sitting in front of her.

She heard Shen ask, "were you guys also going to City B for the educational assistance?"

Xiu's friend, Ma Liya, nodded and answered 'yes'.

Xiu remembered that when Shen asked them, she also turned to look at Shen and noticed that the latter was quite pretty. But that was with a mask on, so Xiu did not dare judge. Anyways, what Xiu saw was Shen's pair of peach blossom eyes that looked bright. Xiu really liked it.

Aside from pretty and handsome faces, Xiu is also attracted to eyes that she considers relatively pretty. And to Xiu, Shen's eyes are beautiful, just like the beautiful scenery of the sky when the sun was just about to rise. Xiu likes that scenery; dawn or before dawn–just like how she perceived Shen's eyes.

Xiu only took the initiative to chat with Shen when she saw Shen's student ID. It turns out Shen is also attending the same university as her.

Therefore, Xiu asked: "Oh, you're from University B, too! What program are you taking?"
