"Muddy buddies? They're good, made em myself. Just two days ago.l"
"No thanks."
"Whatever, man. More for me."
You sat back down and kissed Brucey.
"I need to tell you something."
"WAIT!"
"Huh?"
"How the hell do you know where I live, creep-o!? Just cause you're a superhero and you saved me doesn't mean you can just-"
"Listen, please!"
"Why should I?" You pouted almost jokingly.
"I don't know how you're going to react, but..."
Your heart thumped as he looked down and removed his cowl. He held it at his side and glared at you.
"I've missed you."
No words came out of your mouth, it felt like the air in your lungs was just kicked out.
His eyes were tired, covered in a black balm. There were bruises on his face you hadn't seen before, and the busted lip suddenly carried more weight to it than earlier.
"Bruce?"
"Y/n"
"Where- How did- ughh!"
You ran towards him and pressed your lips to his before quickly pulling away.
"I'm sorry. For leaving."
"About damn time. How hard was it to send a letter? To give me a call? Hell, hire someone to hunt me down to give me the message, tie a note to a pigeon and fly it to me!? For years I was wondering what I did! Wondering what happened to you!"
"I know-"
"But do you? Do you know, Bruce? I just woke up and you were gone. No trace of you, not for a whole year and I was still looking! I gave up and came back nine years later because guilt was eating me alive. I walked back to your place, just in case... Not expecting anything."
His gaze softened and you took a step back.
"And you saw me?"
"Unaffected, working on a car. Didn't notice me."
"I really didn't. But as soon as I found you here, I kept-"
"It's not about that! Ten years! Ten years, Bruce! And you didn't bother to look for me like I did you. I took on as many jobs as I could. Made a bunch of money to throw away on private search parties for you. I was fifteen! Fifteen and spending all hours of every day thinking about you, hoping you weren't in a ditch somewhere. Hoping your body wasn't cold, and your eyes lifeless!"
You leaned into his chest and tightly hugged him.
"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry." He squeezed you a little too hard, and it hurt but you didn't mind.
