(Author's note: You know the drill by now. I think I'm just gonna post most of my drafts. They're good enough, really)

He followed you with his eyes until you sat next to him and Brucey.
"So, what did you wanna do today?"
"You're still hanging with me?"
"Yeah, I mean, we didn't do much of anything last night."
"Right. Um, we could grab a bite. I'm always down for food."
"Dinner?"
"Sure. Where do you want to go? I mean, I've been craving McDonald's lately... But it's up to you."
"I don't mind McDonald's, but I was thinking of taking you to a certain restaurant."
"Well, I don't want you spending a lot money on me, so you better not say La Tour or something."
He cleared his throat and looked to the side before giving you a wary grin.
"Uh, how'd you know?"
"Bruce, no!" You spoke between giggles and grabbed the throw pillow next to you to softly hit him on the head with it. It was more so a touch but he seemed to understand the gesture.
"It's not so bad. I can afford it, and I wanna take you."
"But- Bruce, that's the most expensive restaurant here! Is that the only reason you wanna take me? And won't people recognize you and make a scandal that you're eating with me!? I mean, they'll think-"
"It doesn't matter to me what they think. And I want to take you for the view. La Tour means 'the tower', for dinner it'll be beautiful. I already set a reservation. I rented out the whole top floor."
"What!? I mean-"
You flushed and passed a hand through your hair, not knowing what to say.
"Do you not want to go?"
"No! I want to go, it's just that I thought we'd be going to some crappy diner like Waffle House or Denny's. And I know that even for you its not a penny's worth."
"More like a nickel. Trust me, it's fine. I planned for this."
Something clicked on your brain and your heart felt like it was melting and dropping on your stomach.
"You planned for this?"
"Well, not exactly like this but yeah."
"So um, really quick I just have a question I've been meaning to ask you since last night."
"You can ask me anything"
"So, what are we? And how are we going for dinner? I mean, are we going like old chums or..."
Your heart was beating so hard you started to think he might hear it.
"That's up to you. But I was hoping we'd go on a date."
"Like, romance and stuff, right?"
"Just like that."
"Uhh"
"It's fine if you don't want to"
A spark in his eyes dwindled a bit and you quickly blurted out without thinking.
"No, I love you!"
His lips parted in confusion and at a loss of words; you thought that you ruined the moment. 'Shit, too soon, shut up, shut up, shut up....FUCK, I shouldn't have said that! How do you fumble so bad?'
"Maybe it's too soon, and maybe it's wishful thinking, but I got you something."
"What-"
You watched closely as he brought out a small box from beside him.
"It's my mother's pearl ring. I wanted to give it to you as a promise ring as soon as I was sure the time was right. I realize now that this is the right time."
"Your mother's ring? Are you sure you want to give it to me?"
"I won't wear it," he giggled. "And it's better to find its place in your finger than let it continue to collect dust. I'm sure Mother would be happy her jewelry is being worn again, rather than being sold off."
A small tear rolled down your cheek as you strained, trying not to break down in front of Bruce. But you couldn't keep more tears from coming.
He opened his arms out to you, in his grasp you felt sleepy. You felt safe.
"Thank you... I'll take care of it."
"Don't worry about it. You know, it was all Little Al's idea. He said that if I truly loved you like I told him, then I should ask you to marry me."
"Tell Al I'll have to bake for him soon, as my personal thanks."
You nudged into his neck and breathed in his scent.
"I will," he fiddled with the ring in his hand and tapped your ring finger, silently asking for permission.
"Yes!" You kissed his neck and your breath hitched when the cold ring went on.
"I love you too."
He cupped his hand over yours and kissed your head.
"Bruce, will you tell me now? How come you're Batman?"
"I was still lost, even after I went abroad. I didn't know who I was and everything was falling apart. Until I opened my inheritance, my father's signet ring. I got in a fight, and I realized what my calling was. Those men were on the news and they called me the Bat-Man Vigilante. I climbed my way up the ladder of the corrupt, and I've gotten better at protecting this city."
You didn't know how to respond, and he sighed realizing you wouldn't understand.
"Just be careful. You've taken a good beating."
"I give back what I take."
You pressed your lips to his passionately and ruffled his hair.
