You tapped your foot anxiously and twirled a piece of hair around your finger. Bruce didn't seem to notice the unusual behavior likely due to his mind being elsewhere.
The elevator finally reached the top floor and you stepped out to every table being empty.
One caught your eye, and it was where Bruce then led you to. There was an arc of plants and flowers, wrapped in fairy lights like a candy cane. It hung over two chairs facing out to the edge of the building.
"This is our table. It's got the best view. You can see a lot from here. I can see your apartment... The garage too."
"It's beautiful..." You were near speechless. You felt ungrateful for not saying more than you did but the words were blown right out of you.
Bruce seemed to notice the appreciation in your eyes, because he didn't mention a thing.
"So... What are we gonna eat?"
He smiled and shrugged.
"I'll ask for the menu."
~~~~~
"Really? Man, some people are just assholes! It's like they forget you're a person."
"Al has signs put up that say just that. 'We're two dudes in jumpsuits, not machines.'" He giggled.
"So does Al get those custom made or does he make them himself? He has a lot of signs, I take it."
"Custom made. His whole point is that he doesn't have time for bullshit, and making signs would contradict."
"I get it. So, your Lincoln... Did you total it? I noticed you were working on it."
"Maybe total isn't the right word. More like... Partial!? I got in a chase, that always fucks up cars. It's a shame, really, because it looks so cool."
You smiled at his passion when talking to you. It's been three hours since you finished eating, and you're still talking to him. To you, it felt like seconds.
"I just glanced at your watch... It's already twelve?"
"I guess so, it didn't feel like much at all." He frowned. "When do you have to go?" His thumbs twiddled together and you could hear his foot tapping the sole of his other shoe.
"Once you're tired of me."
"I guess you're not leaving."
"Sounds fine to me." You smiled at him and looked to the side, avoiding eye contact. You started thinking of what happened just before the date. Looking at him only reminded you.
Every time your eyes met his, you pictured him on top of you, looking down. Sweat beading at his nose and falling on your cheek.
"You wanna get out of here? We could... Go to a park, watch a movie- at home. Watch a movie at home."
"I think we should go for a drive. We can stop by the park after, and when we go back to your place, we can watch a movie while you fuck me." You almost whispered the last two words, even though you'd been loud the entire date.
It felt obscene to say aloud.
His eyes widened and he batted them from one side to the other before landing on you.
"I- yeah. That sounds good. The food has settled by now..."
"I could use some cardio" you held a lock of your hair out and stared at it.
"Me too."
You looked back at him, feeling a bit awkward now.
"So... I'm getting a snake....! I already have the things I need, I'm getting him shipped to my place. What should I name him?"
"Quick shift in subject."
You giggled stiffly.
"Well, It feels real obscene to say aloud."
"I get it. You should name your snake Wayne."
You couldn't help but smile at how silly it would be if your pet's names were 'Brucey, and Wayne.'
"I like that. I like that a lot. It's decided then!"
"Really? I was just joking, since your cat's name is Brucey." He looked at you, smiling, but his eyebrows showed he was shocked and confused.
"Brucey and Wayne. It's cute. I'm keeping that name."
