"How are you feeling after your victorious first 4 grand prix?"
I was asked this question a million times. It was hot in Miami and the media day felt longer than it was.
"I'm feeling great. Can't wait for today, it's basically a home race." I said smiling to the reporter. I hadn't been in the states since Tate and I moved to Monaco. It felt nice to be in an area that spoke only English and occasionally Spanish. My French was good, I just hated having to think about how to say certain things.
"How is your relationship with your teammate? We have seen you two pretty close." She didn't catch me by surprise. Charles and I made it quite obvious that something as going on. After the flight home from Bahrain the two of us were together a lot. We went out for food and ran together a lot. I love running with him. Only because he would run with his shirt off and we'd always ended up at the beach. Most believe we're dating but we are trying to maintain a friendship.
That's a lie.
"We great! He's an amazing teammate and he's become a good friend." One would say we're more friendly than just friends. We grew comfortable with each other but nothing has gone further. I try not think about whatever this is between us because seems to cause a headache.
I had been smoking more frequently. What used to be a smoke two to three times a week is almost everyday now. My stress is progressively increasing and no matter what I take or how much I run, it doesn't leave me. I had stopped seeing my therapist for a month now and Tate believes I should start going again. She was getting worried about me and doesn't have as much time to check up on me anymore. Her music career had began to sky rocket. She's released a single and working an album currently.
She's also been spending a lot of time with Lando.
She never gave me full details of what happened between them. She said that she met him at a coffee shop at home and they started talking. He failed to mention that he was a Formula 1 driver but she found out in Bahrain. Lando was spending an ungodly amount of time at our house and they're practically dating at this point. It was nice that one of us has a love life.
My time was consumed by driving a car at 200 mph. The only people I was around were Charles, Sofia, and our engineers. Clara came around a lot as-well. Having her at the track always brighten my day. She was currently holding on to my ring finger while we walked from interview to interview. I was asked if she was my daughter or sister and I always replied with 'I'm her aunt'. Sofia referred to me as Clara's aunt when she spoke about us, it made my heart melt every time.
Clara and I had finished our last interview before heading to garage. I saw two figure standing by my car and I sprinted towards the blue eyed kids.
They opened they're arms for me and I jumped. Vio spun me around in circles before placing me back on the ground. I looked up to my curly headed brother, he wrapped his arms around both of our shoulders and squeezed us tightly. Tears started to trickle down my face."Your here" I said sniffling.
"Like we would miss this." Theo said wrapping is arms around me again. Being held by my little siblings was enough to wash away all the stress I had endured these past couple of weeks.
I saw him over their shoulders, but chose to ignore him.
For the first time this season I was sat in my car waiting for the lights to go out, with a smile on my face. I was going to be happy no matter the outcome today because my babies were here.
I tried ignoring the guilt that washed over me since I left them in that house, with him. He stayed standing in the garage. Never approaching me, only glaring from a distance. Even sat in the car I could feel his disappointment.
