Jidenna was so glad that Christie had agreed to go out with him again. He had heard that the Carnival was in town so he suggested it to Christie.
Going to the carnival as a first date didn't seem like a bad idea. They agreed to meet at the carnival later that night; carnivals were always the livest after dark.
Jidenna had chosen a simple outfit of a long-sleeved dress-shirt and some nice suspenders. He paired those with a some matching dress pants; obviously loving to dress formally. It made people look at him differently and with more respect. It also changed his mind frame. It allowed him to be more comfortable with himself and with standing out. It also gave him a sense of confidence in the way he looked.
He picked her up from her dorm at 7:00pm. The light was just starting to fade from the sky. She was wearing a simple short purple dress and she looked amazing.
He opened the door for her.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked as she stepped into the car. He closed her door and then hurried to the driver's side.
"Because you look beautiful." he said smiling at her and closing his door.
When they arrived he found a parking spot and they walked into the carnival. He bought them some tickets to play games and then they were off.
Jidenna and Christine lost track of time as they got on rides, played games, ate good food, and laughed.
It was 11:00pm before they each started getting tired from walking everywhere. Jidenna looked over at Christine.
"So Christine, do you have any nicknames?" he asked.
"Well, my friends call me Christie." she answered.
"Is it okay if I call you that?"
"Of course." She answered looking into his eyes. She had never felt so close to anyone before in her life. What is this? She thought.
I don't love him, she thought, But still, I just feel so... close to him.
She realized she had been staring for a bit too long. And decided to break the silence.
"So Jidenna," She said playfully, "do you have any nicknames?"
~
They walked to the car hand in hand. Jidenna had won Christie a teddy bear. She held it in her free arm. She was full off of hot dogs and cotton candy and felt like she could take a nap right then.
He opened the car door for her once more and she thanked him getting in. Jidenna entered on his own side and started up the car. After looking at her he leaned in. They kissed.
She leaned back and smiled. With heavy eyelids Christie said "I really had a great time Jidenna, thank you for taking me."
"Your very welcome madame." Jidenna said with a smile in her direction. Then he pressed the gas and they headed out. After maybe a minute, Christie was fast asleep.

The car came to a stop and Christie gradually opened her eyes. They were not at her dorm.
"Where are we?" she asked.
"Well, you were asleep and I didn't want the night to be over so I came to my house. It's a ways off campus."
She gave him a look that said "Don't mess with me".
He put his hands up in defense. "Look..I won't try anything I swear. I just..." he laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his neck "I don't know how to say this-I was just having a great time with you. Would you just trust me. Just for a few minutes and if you hate it then I'll take you home."
He seems sincere, She studied him for a moment. Then nodded her head.
"If you try anything I swear I'll knock you right out." She said meaning every word.
"I believe you." He said, meaning it too.
"And if I don't like it you'll take me straight home?" she asked.
"Straight home" he confirmed.
They got out of the car and started walking to his house.
Wow, he lives in his own house.
"Just you live here?" she asked.
"Yah," he said. "It's like a frat house all for me."
They reached the door; he went in and turned on the lights.
She hesitated at the threshold.
Lord, help me keep my clothes on, She prayed. And then stepped in with a deep breath.
His house was really nice and really well furnished. He had good taste, apparent from his wardrobe.
"You have a beautiful home." She complimented.
"Thank you very much," he said. "I try to keep it clean for company- and do you want anything to drink-water? juice?"
"Do you have that often? And can I have some water please?" she asked.
She sat on hit couch facing away from the kitchen. He went to the kitchen and got her a water bottle.
"Have what often?" he asked.
"Company." She gave him a look.
He laughed nervously. "Well, yeah I guess you could say that." He walked over to her "Here's your water." He sat down next to her handing her the bottle.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" he asked innocently
She giggled "yeah sure" she said.
They ended up watching The Dark Knight which was cool with Christine because she loved super hero movies.
They cuddled on the couch together and she was having trouble keeping her eyes open before they were even half way through the movie.
She fell asleep that night in his arms.
