Jen walked into the hallway, down the steps, and to the car without saying a word to Tom. He kept up with her and unlocked the car; they both got in. Tom started toward the hospital.

They said nothing to each other for several minutes.

"My roommate let me borrow his car." he said to break the silence.

Jen didn't reply. She stared out of the window with a blank expression.

"Well 'borrow' isn't really the word for it exactly. If he was awake I'm sure he would've been cool with it." Tom continued.

Jen was completely silent. Tom saw her wipe a tear from her cheek.

His tone softened. "Hey, Jen want to talk about it? I'm sure she's fine."

She didn't say anything.

"Jen...please say something." He said.

Jen took a deep breath but remained silent.

"Jen, I'm sure Christine is fine and nothing is wrong with-"Tom was cut off.

"Please be quiet." Jen whispered.

"What? I don't-I don't understand-"He started.

"Be quiet Tom," She said a little louder.

"Jen," he was hurt "I'm just trying to help-"He was cut off again.

"Don't talk to me!" She yelled. She was facing him now. "I have too much on my mind so just shut up and drive the car!"

He was silent for a while.

Then he almost whispered, "Why are you being like this?"

"What?" she asked.

"I said, why are you being like this!" he yelled at her. "You're acting like its my fault!"

"Because it is, Tom! If I hadn't been with you, I could've stopped Christine from leaving! So Its all your fault!"

"You're so full of it, Jen." Tom said

"What? What's that supposed to mean?"Jen said

"You put on this show of being angry all the time-"Tom said.

"I do not-"Jen said.

"Shut up and let me talk, Jen! You put on this facade of being angry all the time just to scare people away and guess what, I don't buy it. It's all bullshit because really, deep down on the inside, you're just a scared little girl!"Tom said.

Jen was silent. Tom caught his breath from his rampage as he pulled up to the hospital.

"You're right," Jen said, "I am scared. And its not all your fault, its mine. Thanks for telling me what you really think of me." She said sarcastically, "It helps a lot." She got out of the car.

As soon as her feet hit the ground. It registered in her mind that she had forgotten her shoes. Her feet were freezing.

"Damn" She said to herself.

Tom got out of the car and walked to her. He picked her up in one swift motion so that she was laying in his arms.

"Tom, you don't have to carry me." Jen said.

"Shut up," He said.

"Screw you," She said.

"Screw you more," He said as they walked through the hospital doors.

The valet took care of their car and they headed to the front desk.

The attendant at the desk eyed the couple quizzically. Before she could ask anything, Tom got the room information for Christine. But right before they left to go see Christine, the attendant spoke up.
