"Oh, hi!" Mike smiles. He was glad to see his boyf- his co-worker. Gosh, why did his kind even go there? What an idiot. He's such an idiot. He looked at the other boy as he cringed from yesterday. That car crash was instant karma for him for asking that weird inappropriate question last night.
He sighed and put up his hair in a small bun. His hair was long enough nowadays where he could do such a thing. He walked over to the door and turned the neon light from "Closed" to "Open". He left the entrance and organized the kitchen to allow Pete wait the first customers.
After doing so he went from table to table to wait the customers. The boss gave the two a system now. Mike would handle the left side of the restaurant, Pete would handle the right. Mike sighed. The left side was wayyyy bigger then the right side!
Just because Pete was younger and lazier then Mike didn't mean he couldn't do the work! Maybe he should try doing the phrase "act your pay grade" or whatever the stupid shit was. Embracing this mindset could potentially save him from numerous challenges and unnecessary troubles in the long run. It was worth considering, as it could lead to a more simple work environment for the vamp kid.
"Thank you for eating at Benny's!" Mike warmly waved goodbye to his customers.
Mike shifted his gaze towards Pete, a fellow kid whose gothic appearance was accentuated by noticeably large eye bags. A tinge of worry crept into Mike's mind as he observed this physical change in Pete's appearance. Concerned for his well-being, a wave of curiosity washed over Mike, prompting him to wonder if everything was alright with his coworker.
However, Mike understood the importance of respecting personal boundaries and didn't want to overstep by prying into Pete's private affairs. Although.. he already did do that last night with his weird question. Gosh, he was so fucking cringy.
In the meantime, he hoped that Pete would find comfort in knowing that there was someone who genuinely cared and was willing to lend an ear when the time was right. Although he doubted he would.
Although he wasn't surprised. If Mike had to hangout with depressed losers that was the goth kids he too would have big eye-bags. After all, what did the goth kids even do all day? Smoke cigarettes and talk about death? What a bore. If he could, he would recruit Pete to join the Vamp. kids. Mike laughed, it would be quite funny to have Pete try on something OTHER the dark black goth clothes.
Feeling a sense of weariness, Mike let out a heavy sigh while robotically tended to the task of cleaning the soiled tables. As he scrubbed away the remnants of spilled drinks and food debris, he couldn't help but reflect on the judicial nature of his duties. With each swipe of the cloth, he found himself thinking about how much he was going to hate this job. Sure, it was only temporary, but GOSH did it suck. The only plus was the fact that he has a source of entertainment from the goth kid a year below him.
"Alright boys." The boss grumbled, "Go take your state-mandated 15 minute break. But only 15 minutes! If you aren't out here waiting tables as soon as 15 minutes is up you're fired!"
Mike laughed uncomfortably as he was pushed into the employee's room by the boss lady. Letting out another weary sigh, he reached over and retrieved a bag of crispy chips and an icy bottle of water from the small refrigerator in the room. Though it may not have been a feast worth writing home about, it was something.
"You look more tired then usual," Mike chuckled at the goth, "Didn't sleep well or some shit?"
