Sebastian

The rumors are true. Amara is back at Hogwarts. Multiple students claim they saw her, and Ominis managed to convince Poppy to tell him the truth. She was supposed to be in Charms class, but once again, she wasn't there. What's confusing me is that I felt her presence, but she was nowhere to be found.

With a groan of annoyance, I walk toward the Quidditch field. Headmaster Black reinstated the sport, and I'm more than ready to get back on my broom and forget all that has transpired today.

"Hey, Sebastian." Imelda waves at me from down the field. Raising my hand to acknowledge her, I stop in my tracks and stretch my arms. Amara is back, and with that, so are my complex feelings. I adore that witch. I have since I first saw her in the great hall all those months ago. Right away, I thought she was someone special. The feelings solidified when we dueled in Defense Against the Dark Arts. I couldn't stay away from her after that. Everywhere I looked, she was there. We became dueling partners in Crossed Wands. We took trips to Hogsmead, and snuck into the restricted section of the library. Amara and I became fast friends, but part of me always wanted more.

Pushing these thoughts aside, I hop on my broom and ascend into the air. Coach Kogawa blows her whistle, and everyone trying out for the Slytherin team forms a circle around her.

"I want a clean match, understood? I don't want to give Headmaster Black any reason to dismantle the games again. I'll split everyone into two teams. It doesn't matter who wins, because I'll be watching everyone. If you impress me, you'll make the team. It's that simple," Coach Kogawa informs us. She starts to create the teams, and when she calls my name and points to the left, I mumble a curse.

"Hello, Sebastian." Imelda's tone drowns in lust, which only means one thing.

"Not today, Imelda. I'm not feeling well." It isn't a total lie; I just don't feel like confronting her today. I need to tell her that I need a break. With Amara back, my mind is swimming in a deep endless void. I don't need anything else adding to it, especially not Imelda. Flying closer, she rests her thigh against mine and grins.

"You look upset. Want to take it out on me?" she whispers.

"I said not today," I hiss, my frustration becoming evident.

"Is it because Pendragon is back? I thought you two were only friends. We can still fuck, Sebastian."

"Merlin's beard, Imelda, please kindly fuck off." Before she can say anything else, the whistle blows, and we go to our corresponding positions.

Thankfully, Imelda is a seeker, so she's flying low, trying to capture the pesky thing. With a bludger in hand, I hurl it toward the goal and smirk when Kogawa blows her whistle to signify that we obtained another point.

Before Black dismantled Quidditch, I was the Captain in my fourth year. With the way Kogawa is nodding and grinning at me, I get the feeling the position will be mine once again. After a few more goals, the final whistle blows, and my team is deemed the victors. When I land, I wipe the sweat from my brow and catch sight of Ominis and Poppy in the stands.

I jog over to them before Imelda can get a hold of me. Poppy whispers something in his ear, making him quirk.

"From what I understand, you owned that field," he grins as Poppy stands beside him.

"Fantastic job, Sebastian," Poppy chimes happily.

"Thank you, but you two didn't have to come." A blur of movement catches my eye, and as Ominis goes on about the importance of friends showing up for one another, I focus on the person who has been managing to avoid me all day. "Was Amara here by any chance?" I ask as I watch the figure return to Hogwarts, her back facing me.
