Chaewon's Pov
We seemed to be waiting for Minju to say something as all eyes were on her. I mean, I'm not even sure why I gave her a glance.
In this instance, When I was the one being asked here and not her, I was, in effect, asking for her consent.
I had just returned to her aunt and uncle and was going to speak for myself when I felt her hold on to my arm, causing me to turn around and look at her. She gave me this look as if she wanted me to concur.
I then nod as I return my attention to the magnificent individuals in front of us.
Her uncle Yukyeon smiled and said, "Very well, shall we go somewhere private?"
I said, "Lead the way, Sir."
A hand halted me before I could even move to pursue their now-walking shapes.
"Hang on a second," She said as she leans into me and reaches my ear, reminding me, "I forgot to tell you, they are not one of those people we're up against."
I can't describe how her close proximity to me and hot breath made me feel a little heated. I muttered back, "So you mean to say that they're on our side?"
We may appear to be merely a couple here, kissing each other on the cheek as we move apart.
For a brief while, I was a little taken aback by the charming smile she had on her face.
"Yup, and I'll wait for you in there," she added, indicating the table in the corner where her other cousins are seated.
"Okay."
Hyunjin playfully tapped my shoulder and said, "Good luck, cousin-in-law." I simply nodded.
We then parted ways as I cast my gaze back towards the two figures from before and discovered that they were only a few steps away.
In this VIP area with a deeper red light, I find myself seated across from these two influential folks.
He looked at me like he was inspecting my entire body, "I heard from Minju that you had an accident just a few months ago; did you completely recover from it?"
"It was fortunate that the accident wasn't more severe because I can claim that I have completely recuperated, sir."
"Leave the formalities at the door; call me uncle."
"The same applies to me too."
They both exude a friendly atmosphere that made me feel bad for being a little abrupt with them earlier.
"Aunty and Uncle, I apologise for being a little rude earlier."
While Uncle Yukyeon waived his hand and kindly remarked, "It's fine, we understand," Aunty Hazel could only chuckle.
"We really can't blame you," she replied, "because you might have this impression about us that your other kin had within them when you first met them in the past."
Since just a small portion of their family members were people Michelle had previously met, Minju and I are now aware that there is something amiss.
"Putting that aside, how are things between you two? We heard you got engaged and now you both live under the same roof."
I sneezed foolish things like "It's a disaster—" which I hastily covered with my mouth, and unintentionally scraped the back of my neck.
A little period of stillness followed, and I braced myself for a potential reprimand, but none of that materialized and was instead replaced by a surge of guffaw from both of them.Uncle Yukyeon continued to chuckle and smacked his knees, "Ah, this kid didn't even try to hide it and was so honest."
As she sipped her wine and smiled, Aunt Hazel commented, "I really like this type of youngster."
Are they not upset about something I just said, or even worried?
"You know, it's part of it. I mean, you guys are still in this stage of getting to know one another more."
The uncle commented, "Well, this family custom is a bit severe and complicated. Which is a bit odd given you guys are engaged yet are in this phase."
Well, I mentally concur with them on this.
"Speaking of, we know that this setup was webbed; we also heard about your attempt to turn against it. Could you give us the other specifics regarding it?"
"Only if you want to; if not, we'll respect that as well."
I was taken aback by that question, not only because I only knew a fraction of the story, but also because Mr. Chen had previously brought up Michelle's attempt to call off the engagement, but he had not disclosed the reason for it.
