Aurora yawned before taking a sip from her pumpkin juice."You seem tired, princess." Evan Rosier said, sitting next to her, his hand lightly caressing and playing with a lock of her hair.
"I am, I spent all night in the as... common room, studying." she said.
She knew how tired she was, it was her fault, she was the one that insisted Regulus on staying until he learnt everything about the Crux constellation.
"Maybe you should rest a bit after class, take a nap or take a walk. I can make you company."
Aurora smiled a little and sighed before shaking her head.
"Sound like a good plan, but I have things to do. And I can't cancel that."
And she didn't want to. As much as she hated Regulus, she kind of enjoyed that nights where she taught someone about her favourite thing in the world.
Rosier nodded.
"I get it. We should go to Hogsmeade together this Sunday, though."
"Like a date?"
"Maybe."
Aurora laughed.
"I appreciate you offer, Evan. Really. But I don't date."
"Not even me?"
Aurora shook he head.
"Not even you. I'm sorry."
Regulus, who was sat five people across Aurora, smiled to himself. She rejected a guy just because she had plans with him.
"Are you going home during Christmas break?" Regulus asked.
"I am. I always do. We're planning on having a big ball for Christmas Eve."
"Am I going to be invited?"
"I guess so. You're family will be. You know how our fathers are childhood friends."
"Yeah, I know."
Aurora surprised herself when she found herself talking to Regulus like two normal people, like people who didn't hate or annoy each other twenty-four hours a day. But what she didn't know was that Regulus only annoyed her to get her attention, and in those moments, with no one around, Aurora was only focused on him, so he didn't have to be a jerk.
"Maybe I could dance with you? Everybody will enjoy watching the most attractive people in Hogwarts dancing together. But be careful and don't fall in love with me."
But, obviously, he couldn't stop being himself.
Aurora laughed and ignored him. She felt really calm and didn't want to fall for his jokes or provocations, so she let it slide.
"It's really late, we should probably go to bed. Do I have to remind you that we have a Potions project due in two weeks? And that in four we'll start our quarterly exams?"
Regulus panicked a little bit. Not for the exams or the project, but because he didn't want Aurora to leave.
"Come on, we're both pretty smart, we can stay longer, it wouldn't hurt anyone. Also, um... I... I can't find where, um.... Where Lyra is" he said, showing her the constellation drawn in this book.
"Right there. Look for Vega, Lyra's brightest star. Now, let's go to bed."
"No, wait... You haven't smoked today, don't you want to do it?"
Aurora shook he head.
"Not really. Come on, Reg. Time to sleep."
Regulus knew he wouldn't convince her - it was 4:47am and both of them were tired.
"Okay, alright. Go to bed, I won't keep you here anymore."
"You're not going to bed?" she asked.
"I'll stay here for a little longer."
Aurora grimaced.
"Just... Don't go to bed really late."
Regulus' heart skipped a beat when he heard that concerned tone in Aurora's voice. She was worried about him. That meant he was progressing.
"Don't worry, sugar. I won't."
