every bird would choose the sky
if they are only given their choicethere was a bird who was kept in its golden cage
but when the door was open
the bird never left
wanting nothing more
than what every bird wishes for
but the bird knew the captor not only encaged his wings but his mind
the captor stole his life
how can a bird whose never foraged or built a nest or found a worm survive?
not only to struggle but be rejected by its own kind
abandoned by everyone except the captor
so where do you run?to the golden bars fabeled home
so very far
from blue skieswith our wings caged and our feathers clipped
with invisible wire outlying, denying our air
the golden cage stands bright and the captors name as thick as night
