20: I like you

Janella's POV

I drove home straight away after my dad had called me about this emergancy.

I rushed into the house and found my dad sitting anxiously in his chair in his office.

"Janella, good you made it quickly" He said.
"I came as soon as possible Dad" I told him.

"So what's happening? Why is the marrige cancelled? Why are me and Jane getting a divorce!?" I asked him worriedly.

"Me and her dad have come to a disagreement and arguement, it ended in agreeing to cancel this contract" He replied.

"Pero dad-"

"I thought you would be happy to hear the news" He raised an eyebrows. "You've been complaining about it before" He added.

"No dad it's just-..Things have changed" I replied.
"Well things indeed have changed, we've signed the divorce for you both, it's officially over" He said.

"What?! How!? You didnt get our consent-"

"Janella, it was a contract. Nothing in it was real, what consent exactly?" He asked.

I hesitated.

"Dad, I like her. I like Jane" I admitted.

He stared at me like he knew already.

"Have you told her?" He asked.
"No but-"

"Good, it's best she doesn't know, things will get messy" He said.

"That's all your worried about?" I asked.
"You don't even care about my feelings? Dad-"

"Janella, you can't date her! End of discussion!" He stood up from his chair.

"I'm not leaving without a reason" I told him.
He sighed.

"Your reputation, your career, what'll happen to them ha?!" He asked.

"I ofcourse will keep working on it" I replied.
"You dont get it Janella" He said.
"Then make me get it! Tell me why I can't possible tell Jane I like her! Give me one good reason-"

"Because it wont end well! You two aren't fit for each other! Your both woman, you have careers to take care of and I won't allow it" He yelled.

I stared at him as tears swelled in my eyes.

"What makes you think I care if you don't allow it? I dont care if we're both woman. And I can confidently tell you that I can take care of my career and love life" I told him.

"Janella im telling you-"

"And i'm not listening, end of discussion dad" I said angrily.

I walked out of the room and closed the door.
"Janella!" He shouted.

I held my tears in.

I then rushed out of the house, finally letting go of my tears.

They flowed down my cheeks.

I then saw a figure at the black gate of the mansion.

It was Jane.

She noticed me aswell.

I quickly walked over to her and opened the gate.
"Jane" I said.
"Janella" She replied.

"Do you..want to get out of here?" She asked.
I nodded and took her hand which she offered.

I noticed her eyes were a bit puffy..
I'm guessing she and her dad had a fight aswell.

She drove me to some faraway place.
I liked this.

I felt comfortable and safe with Jane.

"Did you fight with your dad?" I asked.
"Is it obvious?" She asked.

I smiled, "A little" I replied.
"You were crying, im guessing you too.." She said.

"You know it" I replied as I stared into the car window.

"I mean I don't get it, whats so wrong with dating the person I like?" I mumbled.

"Dating a person you like?" She said.
I widened my eyes.

"You heard me.." I said.
"What's wrong?" She asked.

"Uhm, we'll, there's this person. And I really, really like them Jane, but my dad says things won't end well for us, he also says I have a career to take care of and, blah, blah, blah so I got angry at him and walked out." I explained.

"Well you must really like that person then" She said. "You walked out on your own dad for her" She added.

"I do, I really do" I replied.
"How about you? What happened between you and your dad?" I asked.

"Same thing actually" She said and I turned my head to look at her.

Same thing?

"I admitted to him that theres this person I really like but he won't give me permission to date them which I think is ridiculous! What makes him think that he can choose wether or not I can date them? I mean.." She stopped talking.

"I get it" I said.

"Why cant they just let us live" She said as she gripped tighter onto the steering wheel.

Silence filled the car.

Should I say it?
Should I say she's the person?

"Jane"
"Janella"

We said at the same time.

"Oh- You go first" I told her.
"No you" She said.

We both smiled at each other.
"How about we both go at the same time?" She asked.

I nodded.

"Jane I like you"
"Janella I like you"
