Chapter 8: Unravelling

The day of the relay was fast approaching and you had to admit that you were pretty excited to watch it. Your new friends had been busy in their spare time practicing for the occasion.

This was also when you found out just how much Akko struggled with flying on a broom. It confused you because everyone else was able to fly, so what was so different about her that she couldn't do it too?

Regardless, you made sure that you were there cheering her on and helping her out whenever you got the chance.

You had also noticed the blonde girl that you had been looking at in broom class was pretty much everywhere. And wherever she was, the other two girls were normally with her.

She would occasionally glance at you when you saw her, but hadn't come over to see you so far.

At one point you were in the cafeteria, and your friends had noticed that you were looking over at her.

"Oh that's Diana! The schools super student!" Lotte explained to you, gaining a pout from Akko which directed your attention to her.

"She walks about like she owns the place! And don't even get me started on Hannah and Barbara!" She seemed like she was about to go off on a rant, so you braced yourself for that.

"What were you gonna say then?"

However she was cut off by a stern and unimpressed female voice. Looking up there were the three girls of the blue team, Diana at the front and centre as usual.

"Now Hannah remember why we are over here. There will be no confrontations, okay?" Diana said to which she got an obedient nod from her friend.

The blonde then turned to you.

"It's about time that we introduced ourselves, seeming as I have seen you around the school a lot. I am Diana Cavendish." She said and extended her hand for you to shake.

"I-I'm Y/N. Nice to meet you...." You reached out and gently shook her hand.

"Nice to meet you too. The professors have been fairly mute about your presence so far. I hope that at some point we could maybe put some time aside to properly discuss the reasoning." She said.

You merely shrugged.

"Y-yeah maybe." You said, your eyes drifting down to the ground again to avoid eye contact with any of the three girls.

They seemed slightly intimidating to you.

"Hannah, Barbara. Would you like to introduce yourselves?" The blonde asked her friends who nodded and stepped towards you.

You looked up at them, making them smile.

"Hey there! The name is Hannah England! It is a pleasure to meet you!" The auburn haired girl stuck her hand out which you shook.

"And I'm Barbara Parker!" The black haired girl took Hannah's place immediately after she finished.

"I-it's nice to meet you both too....h-hope we get along!" You managed to give them a smile which made them happier.

"Well that'll be all for now. We'd best be on our way. See you later." Diana said before turning around and walking away.

Hannah and Barbara smiled at your before turning to Akko and stuck their tongues out at her before giggling and running after Diana.

"What the-?! Why did they go and do that?! I didn't say anything to them!!" Akko exclaimed as Lotte immediately went to calm her down.

"Y-you know that they do it for this specific reason Akko! To get a reaction out of you!" The fin said to her friend.
