Chapter 8

(Owen's P.O.V)

She hadn’t moved since we got back to the pack house. Not even a little bit. I would have thought she was dead if it wasn’t for the doctor telling us otherwise. Her body laid fragile on the small bench in the cell. Could she really have killed those men? If you asked me the first time I saw her than the answer was no, but I didn’t really know her then. I don’t even know her now.

“Owen, I’m going to be upfront with you, okay? I don’t see this ever getting handled. You want to wait that is fine, but at least let me tell the Alpha. It’s been two days already and she is still unconscious.” Jonathan says as soon as he sees me next to the stairway to the dungeon.

“Leave him alone Jonathan, he must have a reason he doesn’t want to tell the Alpha” Mia takes time to slap Jonathan’s head, unwrap my arms, and pull me towards the table. “I think it’s quite cute that he constantly checks on her.”

“We are talking about a girl who killed more than ten people and they were humans. That’s against were law. She is dangerous” He reaches to pull her away from me, but she slaps his hand and sat where she was. My wolf stirred a little and I growled, but the two were already in their own little conversation to notice.

“How do you know she killed them, huh?” She placed my food in front of me. “Eat, Owen.” Usually, I would have a smart remark, but I sat and looked at my plate. For the first time in a while I wasn’t hungry.

“Are we still talking about the girl in the dungeon? Guys, just let it go the Alpha will come home and then she will go up against the council. Granted if she does go against the council they might let her go” All of our heads went to Ash and Livana as they came down the stairs to join us.

“Okay Ash, how does one who violated the were law, just gets let go” Jonathan glared at his twin. Ash returned the glare with a serious look that took all of us back. Ash only gets serious when things are bad.

“Look, I was going to tell you all earlier, but I have never seen anything like it” Ash came closer all the while looking at me. “This morning when we went back to pick up the bodies in order for us to prepare them for the burial, there was nothing to pick up” Everyone around looked at Ash strangely and then started yelling that this was not a joke. I looked at Ash’s face again and he turned back and locked eyes with me. Through mind link he told me he wished it wasn’t true.

“Shut up” My alpha voice went through the air and silenced everyone around me. “Continue, Ash”

“You can’t seriously believe him” Jonathan said. I glared at him and then scanned the whole room silently telling them I meant it when I said shut up.

“There wasn’t anything there, and I went to the exact same spot. No bodies, no blood, no left behind scents. It was as if everything happened yesterday didn’t happen” We found her so early yesterday morning, and I could still see the blood and the body parts all over the place still in my head. There was no way that there couldn’t be anything there especially blood.

“Jonathan, Ash, Peter let’s go now” Minutes since we walked out the door we were already in our werewolf forms. Since, the only person who knew where to go was Ash, he led us through the forest. The moon shined down on us as we ran to the scene.

“We are here” Ash said through mind link and we all saw the same thing. Ash was right. There was nothing, but trees and the grass.

“Scan through the site, again. There must be something here.” I mind linked them. Carefully pawing the ground, I noticed a small light being reflected off something. Looking at the object closer, I saw that it was a shard of a green stone. Turning back into my human form, I grabbed the stone when a pair of shorts was thrown at me. They waited until I put my shorts on to continue.
