Chapter 13

(Elsie’s P.O.V)
Two weeks later…
“Hey Lana, I’m talking to you” The sound of snapping came after the words as I turned slowly to Katherine. The crowds of people eating and talking came into view around her. Her eyes basically asking me what’s wrong with me. I couldn’t answer her because I myself didn’t know. My birthday was never bad because I never celebrated it and the only ones who knew it was my family, but today was different. I woke up feeling a nervous energy course through me. All day I have been looking around for something and I don’t know what.
“I’ve been trying to tell you that tonight you can come to my house if you want there is going to be a meeting, but it should be over early. There is going to be a party down the street.” I look to the side of us and see Matt and Caleb then the rest of the table to see empty seats. Since I have been sitting here, slowly the table began to empty except us four.
Katherine didn’t seem to know, but the look on their faces when they were here spoke volumes to me. I tried to keep Owen out of my mind for the moment, since Peter says that some of the pack doesn’t know how bad the situation is or the situation at all. Katherine was one of them, but she notices that something is wrong I know it. Her usual bubbliness and quirkiness is slowly retreating to a very calm demeanor and apparently that wasn’t good. She currently wasn’t talking to her brother and lashes out when he ignores her.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea Katherine.” I looked into her pleading eyes and shook my head. Today I wanted to be by myself. Even though I try to be friends with Katherine and even Peter sometimes it was still hard to let them close to me.
“Fine” I hear as she suddenly gets up heading to the inside of the school. Caleb being worried about her glared at me then left after her. Matt looked down and shuffled his food around. He looks up and was about to say something. “So I guess it’s just us now.” With a slow shake of my head, I stared at him until he went back to his food.
The bell rung and I headed out the cafeteria and straight to my next class. The class was happy about something and I looked towards the front and saw that my regular teacher wasn’t there, but instead stood a man that was tall, with his jet black hair that covered some of his face. His chocolate brown eyes were behind a set of black square glasses. He loosened his tie at the top and rolled his sleeves and turned to write his name on the board. Mr. Ramsey.
“Hello the name is Mr. Ramsey and I will be filling in for Ms. Morton. I don’t know that much about history, but let’s get on with it shall we?” One of the girls volunteered to help him find everything he needed. He began to call the roll and when I said here, his chocolate brown eyes gazed at mine. He looked taken aback a moment, then recovered and finished the roll call.
The class seemed to take so long, but I relieved when the bell rang when I couldn’t take it anymore. Since I changed to plenty of schools, it became something secondary. It wasn’t important to me, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t get good grades. “Lana, can I have a word with you.”
He motioned for me to sit at the desk in front of him. I did and he pushed away from the teacher’s desk and rolled to the door to close it then rolled back to me. “I love these chairs” He took off his glasses and set them down in front of me and examined my face.
“Umm…could you not do that?” His staring was freaking me out since I barely know him. Even though he was invading my personal space, up close I could see the bags under his eyes and the stubble on his face.
