Chapter 3

Marinette was back home, her foot was bandaged up. It was really late at night but she texted  Adrien either way. As accepted, that Marinette-obbsesed guy answered almost immediately.

Marinette: hey can we meet up at the park like rn
Adrien: What for??
Marinette: I need to tell you something.
Adrien: Ok ❤️

Marinette was waiting for Adrien. She was terrified for his reaction. Tikki reassured her he was going to be fine, but she still wasn't sure.

In a few minutes, Adrien arrived, looking out of breath.
"Did you run here?" Marinette asked.
"Yeah, kind of," he admitted. "Anything for you," he said lovingly as he leaned in to kiss her. She backed away immediately. A bit disappointed, he returned to his original position.

"Look, adrien, I'm just going to tell you!"
He stared at her, not knowing what to expect.
"I think we should...break up."
Adrien gaped. "W-what?" "Why?!"
"I've been wanting to tell you for ages," she admitted. "But now there is somebody else," she mumbled, slightly blushing.

He just said 'fine' and ran away, tears appearing in his eyes.

Marinette sighed, but she didn't really feel bad. She really liked Zoe, and Adrien wasn't right for her.

Adrien saw his phone ping and light up.  It was Marinette!
"Hey, can we meet up at the park like right now," he read out.
Plagg knew what was going on, he shook his head sadly. "Ask what for," he mumbled.
"Ok," he said as he typed.
"She said she needs to tell me something!"he chimed, completely oblivious to the situation.

Plagg shook his head as Adrien agreed.
"What if she wants to, you know, BREAK UP?" plagg yelled.
"Marinette would never do that!" He exclaimed. "Now come on, we have to go," he said as he transformed into Chat noir.

He leaped buildings, but when he was a few minutes away from Marinette, he detransformed and ran to the park.

She was right there, looking quite sad.

He ran towards her. "Did you run here?" She asked.
"Yeah, kind of," he replied quite nervously. "But anything for you," he smiled. This was the perfect time. He leaned in to kiss the girl, but she backed away!

He was disappointed, but stood normally again. The conversation dragged by.

"I think we need to... break up."

Those where the worst words he had ever heard. He couldn't hear the rest of the conversation, except for, 'someone else'. A thousand things were swirling around his mind. The pain was immense .

He heard himself mumble, "fine".
He ran away.

When he got home, he detransformed and put his face in his pillow.

Sadly, Plagg floated to adriens desk, where he smacked on a piece of cheese.

Gabriel woke up with a start. His miraculous was lighting up so much it hurt to look at it. This pain was so immense.

He grinned and head to his secret 'lair' and transformed. He immediately sent an akuma away, he didn't have time to check who it was.

Adrien couldn't see what was going on, he was still crying in his pillow. The purple butterfly creeped in his room, flying gracefully to its target.

Plagg turned around cautiously and gasped. "Adrien get up!"
"No." UGH. Why did this kid have to be so stubborn."ADRIEN GET UP RIGHT NOW OR I WILL STICK MY SMELLIEST CHEESE INTO YOUR FACE!"
Reluctantly, Adrien got up, but when he saw the butterfly, he screamed and transformed. "Cataclysm!"

Adrien stared down at the broken pieces of the akuma.

At that moment, he knew what to do. He needed to find out who Marinette was talking about when she said 'someone else'.

On Monday morning, Marinette texted Zoe, who knew about the breakup.

Marinette: hi zoe!
Zoe: Hey mari!
Marinette: Let me make sthmn clear, are we liek, dating now?
Zoe: do u wanna? U didn't exactly say anything that night!
Marinette: right lol.
Marinette: I do wanna! Imagine, Zoe and Marinette- the power couple!
Zoe: Ok OK 😆
Marinette: oh dear, I need to tell my parents! And alya!!
Zoe: only if u want!
Marinette: so this means we are going to the Gala as girlfriends???
Zoe: Yeah!!
Marinette: See you at school!
Zoe: Byeee

Adrien wasn't at school most of the week. Marinette did expect this, she knew he would take it hard.

It was Thursday and the last school bell was ringing. Alya was coming over to hear what Marinette had to say.

They left school in a hurry.

"Wait, so are you telling me why you broke up with Adrien?" Alya asked.
"Mhm," Marinette muttered as she dragged her bestie down the street.

They arrived at the bakery. "Hey honey," Sabine said as they walked in. "Here's a snack!" She chirped as she passed a small box of macaroons to them. Alya's eyes lit up and she started munching. Sabine chuckled as they started to approach the stairs.

"Your so- lucky- that- you live- in- a bakery!" Alya noted between chews.
Marinette laughed. "Yea it's great, but come on, don't you wanna hear the drama?" she asked with a smirk.
"Yes yes yes!" She exclaimed as she passed the box of macaroons to marinette. "You can have the rest."
Marinette shook her head at the nonexistent macaroons that lay in the box.

She tossed the cardboard in the bin and they both sat down. Marinette looked around to see if anyone was listening.

"Just get it over and done with," Alya complained.
"Ok OK." "I'm dating Zoe."
Silence...for a few seconds until an excited sqeal hit Marinette ears. It was so loud, she almost fell off her seat.

"UGH its about time! I've been shipping you for agessss!"
"Alya!" Marinette complained, her face turning bright red.
"Do your parents know?"
"No...itll be really awkward."
"Text them!"
"They are literally downstairs!"
"Yes but texting makes it feel less awkward, right??"
How had Marinette not thought of that. She gave Alya a quick hug. "I'll go on our family group chat," she said, as she turned on her phone.

Marinette: hey guys I wanna talk to u about sthmn.

Sabine: We are downstairs?

Tom: what does "sthmn" mean
Marinette: something, dad

Sabine: What do you want to tell us

Tom: marinette, "something" isn't answering my question correctly. Tell me what sthmn means!

Sabine: SHUSH Tom, let Mari tell us what she needs to say.

Marinette: well... I'm kinda dating zoe.

Sabine: REALLY!!!! OMG THATS AMAZING

Marinette:I could hear your excitement from up here

Tom: Ok, so congrats marinette you finally found out your bisexual, great. I have bigger problems: now I don't know what sthmn or omg means. Help me out!

Marinette giggled. She finally came out!
Maybe she should should tell adrien, she thought.
