I woke up to Johnny's jacket on me like a blanket. "Johnny!" I called out but to no answer. I look down and see "be back soon -J.C" drawn in the dirt. I felt gross after the events of the last two days. I walked out to the back of the church to the water pump and splash water on my face when suddenly I hear footsteps and a slight whistle, so I quickly run back. Then, Johnny walks by "Johnny!-" I trip and fall to the ground hard. "Uhmm..fancy meeting you here!" He smirks, "You get more and more like Two-Bit everyday...come on, Dal said to stay inside." We walked back into the church and Johnny set a box full of stuff on the table.

He began to pull things out and set them on the table. Johnny was listing the things he got. I reached into the box and pulled out a book, "Gone With The Wind" read the title "Johnny how did you know I always wanted Gone With The Wind?", "I heard you talking about it once, we went to see that movie, remember?" I smiled knowing that Johnny cared about me and bought me this with the money we were supposed to spend on food. My face turned hot at the thought of Johnny's kind gesture. "Thank you Johnny!" I say smiling.

I pulled a bottle out of the box, "Peroxide?" I questioned, Johnny gave me a look and I already knew what he was he was thinking, "You ain't thinking-" he interrupted me, "We're gonna cut our hair, Ponyboy. You're gonna bleach yours! They will have our descriptions in the paper and we can't fit them, man!" I continued to protest then I looked at Johnny, his kind eyes. He was doing this because he cared and wanted to keep me safe, that's why he stabbed the soc... he was protecting me! I felt the same hot feeling in my face, but I decided to just ignore it. "Go ahead..." I said, slightly regretting my decision.

TIME SKIP
Me and Johnny were standing in front of the pond looking into the reflection of the water, our hair now short and mine blonde... I didn't feel like myself and I definitely don't look tough anymore. I looked at Johnny, his hair looked a lot different. I liked his long hair it suited him but he looked nice with shorter hair too. He looked cleaner with the grease washed out of his hair and his hair no longer in the way of his beautiful eyes. He didn't look as much like a puppy anymore. I am going to miss his old hair though, I'll miss mine too, but it will grow back anyways I continued to stare at Johnny when I realized... why was I saying these things about Johnny? What is this feeling? Why am I thinking this? Then Johnny tapped on my shoulder, "let's get inside, we shouldn't be out here too long." Johnny said. I nodded and followed him back to the coldness of the church.
