this time, their name ends with the "—kit"
suffix. when a kit becomes an apprentice,
their name is changed so that the suffix of
their name becomes "—paw", showing the
new path that their paws are now on. the clan
leader calls a clan meeting to then appoint
the apprentice, and give them a mentor ,

warrior code, a new deputy must be appointed before moonhigh that day. the clan leader calls
a clan meeting and addresses the new deputy ,

when a cat feels as if they cannot serve the

illness or injury. an aging warrior, queen or
medicine cat may retire as an elder due to
own initiative, when they feel they cannot
help the clan efficiently anymore, if they're
hindered from serving their clan through old
age, illness or injury. they report this to the
leader, who calls a meeting for the cat ,

at the gathering place for a night of truce,
where they confer current affairs and any
significant events within their respective
clans, such as new apprentices and warriors,
and the deaths and births of clan cats. they
also use this time, if necessary, to ask for help ,

when a deputy receives their nine lives and

the new leader goes to the moonstone with
the medicine cat, and after touching the
stone, the new leader cannot move for a
short period of time because their old life is
being ripped away from them so they can
receive nine new ones. upon awakening, cats
from of starclan come down from silverpelt.
nine cats, normally ones who were significant
during the new leaders life or the clans
history, give the new leader their nine lives ,

the lives given are virtues or traits that the leader might lack in or need more of and aims towards making their leadership fair to all cats they lead ,

𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗧 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗬

much longer than those for warriors. the cat
must learn about all available herbs, remedies
and treatment for diseases and injuries. once
the medicine cat is satisfied with their 'paws
knowledge, they go to the clans' sacred place.
this is a ceremony not performed by a leader ,

𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗬
━━━━ names are an important part of
clan culture. when a cats name no longer
portrays who they are, a clan leader may
perform a ceremony to change a cats name to
something different. the main cause of this
is likely due to a life—changing injury, and is
not always taken well by the cat being
renamed or their family. some cats have
been known to embrace their new name and
use it to their advantage, and not letting
their name define them. this process is not
always welcome in the clan, and given that
warriors do not choose their name, it is
considered disrespectful to ask for a new
one and to reject what the clan leader chose.
while a leader can compromise with a
request to change a name, they do have the
final say in what a cats name will be ,

━━━━ for all new warriors, a vigil is
something that they must perform after
having received their warrior name. this
process consists of staying awake the full
night, guarding the camp in complete silence.
this event is also used to honour a fallen
clanmates. in that instance, a cat stays up
all night to honour the memory of the fallen ,

𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗥 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗬
━━━━ an apprenticeship usually lasts six
moons or more. once a mentor is satisfied
with their apprentice's progress and skills,
they recommend them to the leader of the
clan. then, the apprentice must pass an
assessment, in which their abilities as a warrior
warrior are checked. in cases when the
apprentice has just made an important
contribution to the clan, the leader may decide
that there is no need for an assessment. if
the clan leaders satisfied, they call a meeting ,

during the apprentice's warrior ceremony, two
major virtues of the apprentice are listed
