It was Monday morning, and typically it was raining. I was getting ready to go to my new school. I started getting those new school nerves which kept making me want to vomit. I decided to wear a loose fitting knee length dress with 3 inch high heeled black boots and long diamond earrings. I was just applying some finishing touches to my makeup when the door opened and my father came in.
"Megan are you trying to make me late?" Dad said
"Hang on dad, I'm just finishing up." I replied as I added a layer of lip gloss over my lipstick.
He walked out the room in a strop, I bent over my long hair cascading down my face as I tied my hair in a high ponytail. I had had it done yesterday so it was curly at the end of my pony tail. I also had my nails manicured so I would make a good impression on my new class. I ran down the stairs as fast as I could picking up an apple and taking a gulp of orange juice and I was ready. Dad was waiting in the car looking down at his watch. There was a look of frustration on his face as I hopped in the front and he drove off. I starred out to space as we drove down the driveway of the school, I starred at the modern looking school. It was designed beautifully and looked very welcoming. There was a big plaque on the side of the main building with the name 'Hollywood Hopeland Arts School.'
I got out of the car and dad drove off. I picked my bag up from the ground, just as someone ran into me and knocked me over.
"Hey! Watch where your going idiot. God!" I shouted
"That's no way to treat a friend! I was just reminding you of our first encounter." He smiled holding out his hand to pull me up.
"Ash? What are you doing here?" I asked ignoring his hand as I got up by myself.
"Well Miss Watts, you see, I go to school here." He replied
"Oh...cool" I muttered, "Right I have to go to the reception, so...Bye!" I said as I walked off in the direction of the main building doors.
I walked over to the reception desk, and waited as the receptionist was in a conversation with a girl around my age.
"What do you mean I have to show a new girl round the school? Can't you get one of those errand boys to do it?" She questioned
"No, they are to help deliver messages, not to do your job for you!" The Receptionist replied
She then noticed that I was standing there, starred at me.
"What do you want?" She asked
"Erm... I'm Megan Watts, I am ment to be starting today." I said feeling nervous
"Hi Megan, Welcome to St Hope Arts School! This is Kay O'Connor Head Girl at this school, she will be showing you round the school and answering any questions you have." She smiled and gestured to the girl next to me.
The girl sighed loudly and said, "Fine, I will do it but it goes down as voluntary."
"Done." The Receptionist replied
The girl, Kay asked me what subjects I will be taking, I answered saying Maths, Music, Science and Drama as well as P.E. as extra activities. She took me through a pair of wide oak doors into a big corridor. She gestured to the row of rooms along the corridor.
"This is the Maths block. You study, work and do projects here." She said, we walked down the corridor and through another set of oak doors which she said was the science block. I could smell the stench of chemicals in the air. We went outside to a big circular building like a theatre.
"This is the Drama suite, this is less important assembly's are held." She said looking bored. We followed a path which ran next to a huge stadium. "This is the P.E. area and upstairs is 6th Formers block, that's where we hangout after lessons and can do work or socialise." We carried on and I could hear the faint sound of someone singing, we followed the sound until we came into a staged area with rooms all round, the roof was done so it could me opened and closed according to weather conditions like at football stadiums. "This is the end of the tour, this is the Music block, with a recording studio over there and other studios you can use. I'm going now bye, make your own way back to the reception area and the Receptionist will give you your timetable." She said over her shoulder as she stalked back the way we came.
I made my way slowly to the main reception, looking with awe at the school. As I reached the Reception the receptionist was on the phone but she handed me a sheet of paper with my timetable on it. I looked down and found I didn't have any lessons today which was lucky because after my encounter with the head girl I wasn't sure I could handle any lessons, It was all very exciting but that was only because of the facilities here. I walked to the cafeteria and bought a sandwich. It was pass lunchtime nearly the normal end of school. I walked outside the wind sweeping through my hair. I sat down at a isolated bench and dug into my sandwich. Suddenly the bench shook and I looked up and Ash was smiling down at me.
"You forgiven me yet for knocking you off your feet for a second time?" He asked with a cheeky smile on his face.
"Yes." I said, I was about to offer him a bit of sandwich when I saw my dads car turn down the drive. I stood up and grabbed my bag.
"Hey, where are you going?" He asked as I walked off towards my dads car that was parking in a spare parking spot.
"I've got to go, my dad is waiting for me in he car." I replied
"Let me walk you to your car then as an apology and I will make sure no one bumps into you." He said as he smiled his perfect white teeth.
"Sorry but my dad is very protective of me and will probably embarrass me in front of you. If you want to hangout tomorrow here first period that would be nice." I said hoping he would say yes
"Sure, first period tomorrow. Rain or shine I will be here! He said and I smiled getting into my dads car. He drove off back down the drive. As we reached home my phone buzzed. It was a text from Ash. "Thought it might be useful for you to have my number as I forgot to give it to you the other day. Can't wait to hangout tomorrow. Ash. I looked at it again and replied: "Neither can I." It was short but sweet, I sighed tomorrow was going to be a good day.
That evening I skyped Emily and Stephanie, they were excited to hear from me and were packed ready to fly here tomorrow. They said they would get a cab from the airport to my school so that when I finished my dad could pick us together. I went to bed early to make sure I didn't look tired tomorrow as I was starting school tomorrow and my best friends were coming tomorrow and my family the day after. Like I said, tomorrow is going to be a good day!
