"Will!" I heard my mom's warm voice call from down the stairs.

I groaned, today was the first day of boarding school. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love being able to see my friends on a daily basis, and having a roomate to talk to, but what I was sad about was not being able to see my family.

I got up and put on my a pastel yellow shirt with khaki cargi shorts. I looked in the mirror as I tried to comb my messy blonde hair, but failed.

My lopsided smile reflected back at me.

I went downstairs to the kitchen. I sat down at the table and my mom handed me a peice of toast. "Will, you know that lovely girl Hazel your friends with at school?" She asked me with a warm smile.

"Yeah," I said with my mouth full of toast. "What about her?"

"Well, her brother from Italy, Nico, just moved in with her next door."

"Cool!" I said, positively. If Hazel's brother was anything like her, he was going to be really sweet and kind. "Do you know how old he is?"

"I'm pretty sure he is in your grade, actually."

"Well, this bus will be here soon, so I should probably go outside and wait for it," I said, getting up from my chair. To put my yellow checkerboard Vans on my feet.

Once I got my shoes on, I gave my mom a hug and said bye then went to the outside to wait for the bus.

It was nice and warm outside considering it was early September, so I didn't need my usual light sweatshirt. The flowers that my mom always plants every summer were in full bloom. The sun shining on me just fell right. This was my favorite time of year.

I lugged my two suitcases along until I was standing on the side walk in front of my house when I caught a glimpse of a short boy coming out of the house next door, and slamming the door hard. That must've of been Hazel's brother from Italy.

I happily skipped towards him and put my signature huge smile on my face. Once I got closer to him, I could make out some of his features, and boy oh boy, he did not look like a sibling of Hazel.

He was short and skinny with paper pale skin and had a mop of dark, raven black messy hair on his head, and was wearing all black. The boy was glaring at the ground, stomping toward the side walk muttering something under his breath.

"Hi, I'm Will, Will Solace." I said in a cheery voice.

He just glared at me with dark brown, sad eyes. Then I noticed he had deep bags under his eyes, which had to be the result of some serious sleep deprivation. I also noticed he wasn't muttering in English, he was muttering in Italian.

I held out my hand and he just looked at me with a face. "Uh, no physical contact please. No offense. Or take offense, I don't really care which. Just don't touch me."

His voice was soft and quiet and had a bit of cute Italian accent. I really wanted to compliment it, maybe he would thank me and we would become bffs, but his tone suggested otherwise.

"Sooo," I dragged out the word in a cheery tone , putting aside his angry one he used with me. "What's your name?"

He looked at me, clearly annoyed, then mumbled, "Nico."

"That's-" I was going to compliment him on his name, but was interrupted by the bus pulling up beside the sidewalke. "That's our bus, come on!" I excaliamed excitedly, grabbing hold of Nico's hand and dragging him behind me to the bus entirely forgetting what he had said about physical contact.

Once we were walking up the stairs to the bus, Nico ripped his hand away from my grip, blushing, and his cheeks changed from pale to crimson red,"Will!" He yelled, aggravated. I followed suite with him and began blushing like crazy.

When he said my name, instead of sounding like 'Will', like how my name is pronounced, it sounded like he said 'Weel'.
My heart skipped a beat.

That was the cutest thing I had ever heard.

I was brought back from spacing out due to Nico kicking my shin, muttering angrily in Italian, and the bus driver telling me he was going to start the bus with half of my body still out on the side walk.

I quickly stepped up the stairs and pushed though the small area between the seats. I was having trouble squeezing through while Nico fit just fine. I guess there were advantages of being tiny.

I made sure to stop before I got to the back, since that's where all of the 'cool' kids always sat. They were really just a bunch of bullies who hated themselves and wanted others to feel all the pain they had to.

I let Nico have the window seat, since I was really claustrophobic. He didn't really protest and just kind of went with it.

After a few minutes of ackward silence between the of us, I decided to look at Nico. He looked back at me and I blushed. Then he asked something along the lines of 'How much longer until we get off of this bus and get to school?' though I wasn't completely sure since it was sort of broken English.

I looked at my smart watch wrapped aroundmy wrist that I got from last Christmas. "About seven minutes." I answered him.

Then Nico did this really cute pout thing where he jutted his bottom lip out, and his eyebrows furrowed as if he was angry, which he probably was. Only then did I notice his lips.

His lips were adorable, they were dark purple like he'd been out in the cold for way too long, and were plump. They looked like those of a six year olds'.

Nico stuck his fingers in his ears, blocking out the noise of the screaming kids in the bus. "It's so noisy." He complained, still doing the pout thing.

I laughed, and Nico gave me a confused look, and asked me "What's so funny?"

I laughed again, "You have a cute accent." I told him.

"I do not!" Nico stuck his tongue out at me, which really surprised me. He seemed so serious just a few milliseconds ago, but now he was being all silly and cute.

My thought process was interrupted by the bus stopping, the tires making a horrible screeching noise.

"Okay Nico, " I said, smiling, "Ready for your first day of boarding school?"
