VIII | Camping Continued

WILL POV:

Annabeth put us all into groups for who would ride in each car. I was with Leo, Piper, Percy and Nico. Piper was driving and Leo was  in the passenger seat, while I was stuck squished in the middle of Nico and Percy in the back.

We probably weren't going to get to the campsite until the next day, so I put in my ear buds and played my favorite Playlist thst had multiple laid back songs that helped me relax.

And I really needed to relax because my claustrophobia was really hard to handle with the current seating arrangements, and sometimes it makes me really overwhelmed. Ah, the struggles of being full of anxiety.

Once it had gotten dark, Percy had his head layed on my shoulder and I was not enjoying him drooling all over my shoulder and snoring right in my ear, so I pushed him off. This resulted in him banging his head on the window.

Woops.

Due to Percy being a really heavy sleeper, he just snoozed on. Nico was on the right side of me and he looked incredibley tired. He was leaning his head back and I could  he was fighting off sleep.

After a few minutes I could see his eye lids getting heavy and he quickly fell asleep.Then his head slumped onto my shoulder.

Oh my gods!!

Nico was sleeping on my shoulder! I could feel his hair on the top his head touching the right side of my neck and was as soft and silky as it looked. I tried to relax but I just couldn't because I was freaking out too much. What if Nico woke up and thought I was a weirdo or something? Before I knew it Nico's head slipped off of my shoulder and landed in my lap. I saw him attempt to stretch out like a sleepy cat but his foot hit into the the car door and he scootched his whole body on my lap. He curled up in a ball and was now practically laying on me.

OH. MY. GODS.

I felt the sudden urge to touch Nico's raven black hair. It was so soft before when it was on my neck and I desperately wanted to run my hand through it.

My heart took control of my brain and I picked up my hand.

I set it in Nico's mop of soft hair and I felt like the softest thing in the whole world. I ran my fingers through it continously and it started to become a bit fluffier.

Piper looked back at me and winked. Then she took her ponter finger, pointed at me, made a heart symbol with her hands, then pointed at Nico. I took my free hand and pointed at her, making a cutting throat symbol,while my other hand was still fluffing up Nico's hair. She just giggled, flicked her braids behind her head, and turned around to continue driving.

Piper could really get on my nerves sometimes.

Nico was still sleeping peacefully in my lap and so I decided I would make tiny braids in his hair(spoiler alert, they turned out ADORABLE). I had a bunch of tiny elastics in my pocket from my toddler sister who insisted they were an essential item for boarding school, and Nico desperately needed a haircut so here was enough of hair to work with to make the litle braids in.

Braiding Nico's hair was strangely relaxing and I soon feel asleep with my hands in his hair.

NICO (POV switch):

I was half asleep when I felt the car engine stop. Being half asleep lasted for about ten seconds then I fell back into a comfortable snooze. It was relatively easy because for some reason whatever I was laying on was incredibly warm.

I felt something under me shift, and  went back to being half asleep.

"Noooo," I mumble whined. "Warmmmm."
