Torlyn

Torlyn nearly dropped the jug of wine in her hands when she caught sight of the pair of violet eyes watching her make her way up the stairs. Elin had called for Dornish Red, and she was doing her best to see the Lady's needs met until Lady Alysanne returned. Ever since she had interrupted his conversation with the Dornish prince, she'd felt Prince Daeron's gaze following her.

"My prince," she offered him a polite curtsy as he passed, surprised when he fell into step beside her.

"Torlyn, right?"

"That's right," she replied, dipping her head, grateful for the way her gold hair covered the flush of her cheeks. Gods, he's so very handsome...

"How are you holding up without your lady?" he asked. An odd question that made her wrinkle her nose at him.

"Just fine... I've been tending to Lady Elin until she returns."

"Is that where you're heading now?" he asked. Torlyn nodded as thy continued up the stairs. "Is—"

"I don't mean to be rude, my prince, truly, but is there something you need?" While she had longed for his attention before, she was growing uncomfortable with the way he was staring at her, and her skin was hot with embarrassment. Torlyn liked conversation, but his attention was unfamiliar and awkward, and she was nervous. She didn't know what else to say...

"No, I just... Wanted to get to know you, I suppose," Daeron admitted. Torlyn did like him, but—

"I'm not going to bed with you, Prince Daeron," she stated bluntly.

"I didn't even—"

"Your brothers both have reputations, and word is you're no less...experienced." Her face was growing hotter as she continued, but she needed to finish her thought. "I will be a maiden on my wedding day; nothing you say or do will tempt me to—"

"I'm not trying to fuck you..." he replied. Torlyn cocked a disbelieving brow at him. "I mean... You're lovely, and I would, if you wanted to... But it's commendable that you want to keep your virtue, I wouldn't dream of trying to take that away... But I would like to enjoy your company."

"So long as we're clear about this..."

"You know..." he leaned in close as they made their way down the corridor to Elin's chambers, "There are things that don't involve losing your virtue to..." Her pale amber eyes glared at him until he raised his hands in surrender. "All right... A kiss, then?" he offered, taking another step toward her, until there was almost no distance between them.

Torlyn couldn't breathe; she couldn't think, not with his lavender colored eyes staring down at her. Torlyn had never even held hands with a boy before, let alone been kissed. She stared up at him, her indecision clear in her wide eyes. Daeron glanced both ways down the empty corridor before lifting her chin with his fingers.

"Just one?" she asked softly, her question coming out a tiny breath of a whisper.

"Just one," he assured her, already leaning in. Torlyn's throat closed, and her breathing halted as the prince gently pressed his lips to hers. A blink of any eye, a fraction of a second, his lips grazed hers in an innocent kiss, and then he was pulling away and her lungs began to work once more. "There," he breathed, a wide grin spreading across his face. A handsome smile that made her feel like her heart might stop. "Not so bad, was it?" he teased, stroking his thumb along her jaw line. She shook her head, unable to form words to respond. "Gods, you're so pretty..."

Then he released her and stepped back, allowing her to continue on to Elin's rooms with her heart pounding in her ears...
