Edward and Ecgwynn

Ecgwynn looked at Edward, whilst he was talking and she even smiled, when he was talking about Dalia! But at some point, Edward broke the eye contact and lowered his head...he sighed and his voice began to break! Ecgwynn gently rubbed his back and he instantly relaxed into her soft touch! When he lifted his head and made eye contact again, he felt butterflies bulge up in his stomach and he felt the urge to kiss Ecgwynn...

Ecgwynn:"And what happened in your life after we were forced to part?...(*Edward lowered his head*)...Edward, you can tell me! I won't judge you!"
Edward:(*he took a deep breath*)"My parents opened up to me shortly after we part that I was to be married again!...(*Ecgwynn tilted her head*)...luckily I was allowed to choose my wife myself and she really is the sweetest soul I have ever met!"
Ecgwynn:"What is her name? You speak so happily about her, so she must be something special!...(*Edward took Ecgwynn's hands into his own*)...and do you love her?"
Edward:(*he sighed*)"Her name is Dalia and yes, you can say she is special!...(*Ecgwynn slightly smiled*)...but I don't know if it's love I feel for her..."
Ecgwynn:"Edward, what do you mean? She's your wife, isn't she?...(*Edward nodded*)...1 year has passed since we parted, and your parents have said, as you told, that you should be married again...so theoretically you have been married for 1 year, haven't you?"
Edward:(*he nodded*)"Yes, that's right! Still, I don't know if I love her, Ecgwynn!...(*Ecgwynn's eyes widened*)...because there's another girl who just won't get out of my head and who happens to be the mother of my children..."

Ecgwynn felt butterflies bulge up in her stomach and now she also felt the urge to kiss Edward! Meanwhile: Dalia, Sihtric and Finan sat on the jetty and watched as traders reached the port! Finan immediately called out for Uhtred and within minutes he was there! Godwine again brought Uhtred's axe blades and later counted his silver! Sihtric and Finan went to help Uhhred, thus Dalia was left alone, but she didn't care! After a little while, Godwine looked at Dalia and addressed her...

Godwine:"You are Prince Edward's wife, right?...(*Dalia nodded*)...I'm sorry you only found out about his children now..."
Dalia:(*she tilted her head*)"How do you know about that?...(*Godwine sighed*)...do you know his ex-wife?"
Godwine:"Something like that! I live in the same village as her!...(*Dalia raised an eyebrow*)...that's why I can tell you something about them, if you want to know..."
Dalia:(*she nodded again*)"Godwine, I would be very grateful if you would tell me everything you know!...(*Godwine lowered his head*)...he won't know you told me!"
Godwine:"Well...when I walked to my ship, I walked past his ex-wife's house!...(*his gaze darkened*)...unknowingly I looked in one of the windows and saw them kissing..."
Dalia:(*her eyes widened*)"The two of them did what?!...(*Godwine swallowed*)... Godwine, are you sure it was Edward?"

Godwine nodded and Dalia got mad! She was no angel, of course, but she didn't kiss the person, who should already be banned from her life! All her ex lovers, were arseholes and she swore, that she would never talk to any of them, ever again! Godwine watched as she got angrier and at some point she stood up and walked towards the gates! Uhtred, Sihtric, Finan and Osferth were storing the axe blades, when Dalia walked past them! Sihtric grabbed her wrist, causing her to turn around and looking into his eyes! He saw, that she was mad and he wanted to know why! He gave her time to calm down, before he asked her, what the matter was...

Sihtric:"Honey, what's wrong?...(*Dalia lowered her head*)...what did Godwine tell you?"
Dalia:(*she cleared her throat*)"He told me something about Edward and his ex-wife!...(*Sihtric raised an eyebrow*)...Godwine saw the two kissing..."
Sihtric:"Where does he get the right?...(*Dalia shrugged her shoulders*)...of course, neither of us are angels, but she is his ex-wife for a reason, after all..."
Dalia:(*she lifted her head*)"Would you kiss your ex-wife if you were newly married and your wife was expecting a child?...(*Sihtric shook his head*)...how am I supposed to tell him about us?"
Sihtric:"You really want to tell him?...(*Dalia nodded*)...Dalia, you don't know how he will react and what will happen to you afterwards..."
Dalia:(*she kissed him*)"Baby, it's sweet that you're worried, but I have to tell him no matter how it ends for me!...(*Sihtric sighed*)...and you should tell Sigdeflaed..."

Sihtric shook his head and let go off her wrist! She shot him a confused look, when he suddenly turned around and walked away! Finan watched as Dalia got sad and tears rolled down her cheeks...his heart ached and he walked over to her, to give her a hug! She slightly flinched, because he suddenly touched her shoulder, but when he opened his arms, she didn't hesitate and snuggled against his chest! Meanwhile: Edward was on his way back to Winchester and when he reached it, he led his horse to the stables and walked towards the palace. Dalia meanwhile, saddled her horse and prepared everything for her journey back to Winchester. When she was done, she said her goodbyes and rode off! When she reached Winchester, she immediately led her horse to the stables and then went to find Edward! She found him in their chambers, lying on their bed and starring at the ceiling...

Dalia:"May I come in?...(*Edward straightend up*)...I'm a bit tired and would like to lie down with you."
Edward:(*he sighed*)"Come in and lie down next to me!...(*Dalia slightly smiled*)...is there something you want to tell me?"
Dalia:"Yes, there is indeed something I would like to tell you!...(*Edward raised an eyebrow*)...it's about Sihtric and me..."
Edward:(*his gaze darkened*)"I knew it!...(*Dalia flinched*)...I knew he and you were humping behind my back! How long has this been going on, Dalia?"
Dalia:"One year, Edward!...(*his eyes widened*)...I am so very sorry, Edward! Please believe me! I didn't mean to fall in love with him...it just happened!"
Edward:(*he took a deep breath*)"Is the child even mine?...(*Dalia shrugged her shoulders*)...I won't punish you, Dalia, you're too important to me for that! But I won't say another word to you unless it's necessary, or in front of my family, is that clear?"
Dalia:"Yes, Edward, I got it!...(*he nodded at her*)...are you going to take a mistress?"

Edward shrugged his shoulders and then turned around, so that he faced the door instead of Dalia! Dalia sighed and felt how tears rolled down her cheeks. She didn't want to hurt Edward, but she needed to get it off her chest! Meanwhile: Sihtric sat in the great hall and thought about telling Sigdeflaed about him and Dalia. After a while of thinking, he came to the conclusion, to tell her, because it was the only right thing! So he stood up, left the great hall and went to find Sigdeflaed! He found her sitting outside their house and enjoying the nightlife of Coccham...

Sigdeflaed:"You're coming home already?...(*Sihtric nodded*)...why? Are you too bored alone in the great hall?"
Sihtric:(*he shook his head*)"No, but I have to tell you something, Sig!...(*Sigdeflaed raised an eyebrow*)...it's about Dalia and me..."
Sigdeflaed:"I already thought so, Sihtric!...(*she sighed*)...it's not your fault that you fell in love with her! You can't fight your feelings and marrying someone else doesn't make them disappear. I'm not angry with you, Sihtric, I'm just disappointed that you're only telling me about it now!"
Sihtric:(*he sighed as well*)"I know and I'm sorry that I'm only telling you about it now!...(*he sat down besides her*)...I never wanted to hurt you, Sig, you have to believe me!"
Sigdeflaed:"I know, don't worry!...(*she kissed his forehead*)...can we still remain friends?"
Sihtric:(*he nodded*)"Yes, of course we can remain friends, Sig!...(*she slightly smiled at him*)...I'm glad you asked that!"

They smiled at each other and Sihtric then intertwined their fingers! They watched the night sky together and let the wind blow into their faces. Sihtric was glad, that Sigdeflaed wanted to remain friends, because he didn't want to lose her in any way! Meanwhile: Dalia couldn't find sleep so she decided to sneak out of her and Edward's chambers and take a walk around Winchester and sit down in the garden for a while. After she finished her walk, she sat down in the garden and looked at the night sky. Suddenly someone sat down next to her and nearly scared her to death...
