Three months passed. Jessie was five months pregnant and showing. Her physical health was declining by the day. She could no longer take five her ten medications. She was very weak and pale. She was at twenty weeks and knew for the baby to have a chance to survive she had to be at least twenty-four weeks. Sam had taken a leave of absence from work to take care of Jessie.
Jessie and Sam were at the doctor. They were finding out the gender of the baby. Sam had to lift her up onto the exam table.
"Congratulations." The doctor said. "It's a girl."
"Oh a girl." Jessie said happily. She looked at Sam. "I told you."
"You did."
Jessie and Sam had just gotten home.
"Want me to make you some food?" Sam asked.
"Yeah."
Jessie ate the food in bed. Sam had just come back in after taking her tray.
"I want to make the video today." She said.
"Ok."
Sam setup the phone to record she and Sam sitting on the bed.
"Happy sixteenth birthday Abigail Jessie Ratsch." Jessie said into the phone. "You're probably watching this with your dad."
"I'm probably keeping the boys away." Sam said. Jessie laughed.
"By the time you see this video, I'll have been gone for many years." "I wish I could see how beautiful you are now but I know I left you in good hands." "Always remember, although not physically, I will always be with you." "I love you."
As Jessie slept that night. Sam silently cried in the living room. He knew he was losing her and could do nothing to stop it.
