Afraid To Love

Chapter 7

When Jessie got back she texted Sam asking him to come to her room later that night when he was done with his appearances.

At around nine that night Sam came through the door using Jessie's spare key.

"Hi baby." He said.

"Hi." They kissed. He noticed she looked upset and sad.

"What's wrong?"

"I can't see you anymore Sam, I'm sorry."

"Why?"

"I can't tell you, but it's not you, it's all me."

"I don't want to break up."

"I know." "I just can't drag you into this."

"Into what?" "Tell me, please."

"You'll look at me differently."

"No I won't."

"I'm sick." "I have Leukemia, I've stopped responding to treatments."

"Oh my god." He said shocked. "When were you diagnosed?"

"The first time I was sixteen." "I went into remission when I was eighteen." "It came back three years ago, more aggressive this time." "That's why I turned you down at first when you asked me out." "I was afraid I'd get close to you and that's happened." "I want you to remember me how I am now."

"Don't go Jessie, I love you."

She hugged him. "I love you too."

"There's nothing the doctors can do?"

"There's one more treatment they can try." "There are no guarantees, it's experimental." "My insurance doesn't cover it."

"How much is the treatment?"

"Ten thousand dollars." "I'd have to go to Europe to get it."

"I'll pay for it."

"No."

"Yes." "I want to help you."

"Alright."

"I'll do what ever it takes to save you." They kissed.
