The morning after the gender reveal party, Maya had spent a sleepless night, her mind consumed with worry about Ace's whereabouts. She had called and texted him countless times, but there was no response. Fear gnawed at her heart, and she couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible had happened.

As the sun began to rise, Maya's parents and Ace's parents came over to see if Ace had returned home. They shared her concern and anxiety, their faces etched with worry.

"Have you heard from him at all?" Maya's mother asked, her voice filled with concern.

Maya shook her head, her eyes welling up with tears. "No, there's been no sign of him."

Ace's father stepped forward, his expression serious. "We'll call the police and file a missing persons report. We have to find him."

Just as they were about to make the call, Maya's phone rang, startling everyone in the room. She hesitated for a moment before answering, her heart pounding in her chest.

"Hello?" she said, her voice shaking.A gravelly voice on the other end sent shivers down her spine. "Is this Maya James?"

"Yes, who is this?" she asked, her grip on the phone tightening.

"I have your husband," the voice said, and Maya's breath caught in her throat. "If you ever want to see him alive again, you'll do exactly as I say."

Fear gripped Maya as she listened to the voice on the other end of the line. She felt paralyzed, unable to comprehend the nightmare that was unfolding before her.

"What do you want?" she managed to ask, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Meet me at the old warehouse on 5th Street at midnight. Come alone and bring a suitcase full of cash. If you involve the police, your husband will pay the price."

The line went dead, leaving Maya in a state of shock and terror. Her mind raced with questions, and she couldn't fathom who would want to hurt Ace or why.

With the support of their parents, Maya mustered the courage to go to the warehouse that night. She was terrified, but she knew she had to do whatever it took to save Ace.

As she arrived at the dark and desolate warehouse, she clutched the suitcase tightly, her heart pounding in her chest. The surroundings felt eerie and dangerous, and she had no idea what to expect.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows, and Maya's breath caught in her throat. It was Ace, but he looked pale and weak, a trickle of blood visible on his shirt.

Before she could react, the person behind Ace stepped forward, revealing a gun in their hand. Fear consumed Maya, and she knew she was in grave danger.

"Hand over the suitcase," the person demanded, their voice cold and menacing.

Maya complied, placing the suitcase at their feet. She could barely breathe as she watched them take it and walk away, leaving her alone with Ace.

With tears streaming down her face, Maya rushed to Ace's side, helping him sit up. "Are you okay? What happened?"

Ace looked at her, his eyes filled with pain and weakness. "I'm so sorry, Maya. I never meant for any of this to happen."

She was confused, not understanding why he was apologizing. "What do you mean? None of this is your fault."

But before Ace could respond, his body went limp, and Maya screamed for help. The night had taken a nightmarish turn, and she could only pray that Ace would survive.
