Amy woke the next morning, cosy and warm in Noel's bed. She was facing him and could feel his body heat radiating off him. It was better than any hot water or electric blanket could be. His arm was draped loosely over her waist. He was still sleeping.

She grinned to herself as she thought about the previous night. Of all the things that had happened to since she'd joined The Rising Sun, ending up in Noel's best was not something she would have thought possible. She hadn't even thought it was possible until it was happening.

Amy looked at Noel's face as he slept. His hair was messy across his forehead. She pushed it back gently, studying the streak of grey he had there. She moved her hand down, gently stroking his cheek and feeling the rough stubble. There was a seriousness to his face, but she now knew what he looked like when he laughed or was relaxed. She blushed as she remembered how he'd stared at her last night.

She had no regrets, but as she looked at his handsome face, she knew she was in trouble. She felt butterflies in her stomach whenever he looked at or spoke to her. Her heart flipped when he laughed at things she said or touched her gently. She never wanted their conversations to end when they spoke. She...liked him. And now she'd slept with him and she had no idea what it had meant for him, which obviously complicated things. He also had a child. She sighed.

"How long ya gonna keep staring at me for?"

Amy gasped. Holy shit. How long had Noel been awake?! And she'd bloody stroked his face – he probably thought she was a creep. He opened his eyes and grinned his crooked smile at her.

"How long have you been awake?" Amy asked. She was blushing, but Noel thought it was cute. He'd done the same thing to her last night when she'd fallen asleep before he did.

"About 20 mins. Didn't want to wake ya. It's nice just lying here," he said, pulling her closer to him. Her heart fluttered at his words. She nuzzled into chest, feeling his warmth and hearing the rain fall outside. She thought she could stay like that for the rest of the day.

Noel felt weirdly pleased. It was rare he woke up pleased to see the woman from the night before still in his bed. Most times they were gone before he woke, but there had been some awkward goodbyes. But this morning, he was glad Amy hadn't done that. And he found that he didn't want to say goodbye just yet either.

"Are ya hungry? We could have breakfast if you want?" Noel asked her.

Amy felt warm inside. It was the cold, sober day now, but he still wanted her around. That had mean something right?

"Sure," she said nodding. "Let's eat."

Noel looked inside his fridge, starting to feel stressed. He rarely cooked, but he knew he could manage a full English Breakfast. But Amy didn't eat any bacon or sausage or anything like that. What the fuck was he going to give her?

"Um," he looked at her. She was still wearing the shirt and tracksuit pants he'd lent her last night. Even dressed so simply, she was still stunning to look at. "What do vegetarians eat for breakfast?"

Amy burst out laughing. "You're hilarious. It's like I'm an alien to you or something." She came over to look inside at what he had. "Perfect. I'll have smashed avo."

"Eh? Fucken smashed what?" He had no idea what she'd just said. Amy smirked and grabbed the avocado.

"Smashed avo. It's avocado with lots of salt and pepper on toast, sometimes with egg or cheese. People go crazy for it back home."
