Warnings - supernatural, pulling something out of neck, talks of magic, manipulation

"Who do we go to?" I asked as Timothée flexed his fingers. I was very much enjoying not being attached to him anymore.

"Well it'll have to be a witch," Timothée shrugged.

"What do we trade, we don't have anything."

"You'd be surprised what a Witch will take," Timothée grumbled. "I think we will luck our best with Tabitha."

"Who is that?" I asked.

"An ex of mine," he said sheepishly.

"Did you not work out because you were actually sent to torture her for information?" I quipped.

"I'm sorry," Timothée wailed. "I didn't expect to ever feel like this."

"Like what?" I asked in a low voice. I couldn't help that I wanted to know. I shouldn't want to, but I did.

"Like I'm in love," he whispered, staring deep into my eyes. "I've never been in love before, and it feels wonderful and painful all at once. But y/n, you have to realize how long I've wanted to be free from my father, I'm willing to sacrifice all that for you. I'm now a key player in a possible war. Doesn't that prove to you how I feel is genuine?"

"I don't know," I whispered. "I do know I want to kiss you right now, but I don't want to break your heart."

"Break it, it's yours anyway," he said, eyes dropping to my lips. I stood taller and kissed him slowly. He was immediately holding me tight to him, trying to deepen the kiss. I had to pull away before I got too invested. When I pulled back his eyes were desperate, and I couldn't keep looking at him.

"Y/n, part of that needle is still in your neck," he murmured.

"What do you think was in that?" I asked as I bared my neck so he could pull out the needle. He bit his lip as he looked at the expanse of my neck. He gripped the metal and yanked it out.

"We can ask Tabitha," Timothée shrugged. He took my hand and guided me to a grey tent. Once we went in it was covered in plants and gems. Tons of blankets and bean bags littered the floor.

"Timothée, long time no see," Tabitha said, using the proper French pronunciation. She had dazzling blue curls, dark brown skin, and the eyes of a feline. She was gorgeous, and I was unsure how I didn't pale in comparison to her, in Timothée's eyes.

"We need your help?" Timothée said. "You may ask for anything in return."

"I'll give you a deal, for old times sake, just some of the venom of the Blood Star vampire will suffice." I didn't know why my gut twisted when she mentioned their old times.

"We need to know the entrance to the Land of Covens," Timothée said.

"You're no witch," She mused.

"She is," he said pointing to me.

"Where is her signature?"

"I only just learned I had powers," I explained.

"I see, well, Timothée you can fill this vial while I explain it to you," she said, holding out a vial for him.

"You have to find a mushroom circle and stand in the middle, if you knock three times on the ground, it will feel like you're tipping and you will fall into the Land of Covens. They just so happens to be a mushroom circle at the end of the market if you're in a hurry."

"Thank you," I said to her. "Could I ask you another question? Luce, Timothée's brother, stabbed me with a syringe. He got about half the liquid in before I broke it. Could you tell me what it was?"

"I'll need to touch the space where the needle entered," she said. I bared my neck for the second time. She placed her hand against my throat and gasped.

"A fire witch, no wonder Luce did what he did," she said, with wide eyes.

"Tabitha, I will do anything for you not to tell anyone," Timothée begged.

"I would never, I could be hunted for this information."

"What did he give me," I urged.

"It's a poison that corrupts your heart, they wanted you to be as evil as them."

"What will it do now?" I asked.

"I'm not sure what will happen with half, it's a rare and dark magic, there isn't a lot of study on it. You may be able to fight off the effects," Tabitha explained.

"I hope so," I said worriedly.

"I'll make sure you don't fall too far," Timothée promised. "Thank you, Tabitha," Timothée said, handing her the vial.

I took Timothée's hand again. We began walking to the end of the market. I stayed close to him, hoping his status would keep me safe. Finally, we got to the mushroom circle. Timothée and I stood in the middle and knocked on the ground. The world tipped, and Timothée and I fell into the Land of Covens.
