Lewis' POV
"Okay now you must be messing with me" She sighed beside me.
She was wearing a black mini dress with dark tights and boots that went up to her knees, with a gray blazer to cover her for the cool of the night and I just couldn't keep my eyes off her.
"I do not know what are you talking about" I may have been a little distracted because I don't know why she's mad at me.
"You seriously don't like any of them?" Oh right, yes, we had come to see the paintings.
I look at the two paintings, they were remarkable as always but honestly they stopped being the reason we took these trips a long time ago.
"I like...that one" I said pointing to the one on the right.
It was a painting of a dancer alone in the middle of an empty studio. She was wearing a long white dress in which her body could be sensed by the light that came in through the large windows behind her, making the fabric almost transparent. It was delicate, but at the same time she had managed to make her look like she was in motion. The use of light was simply breathtaking, it was one of the good ones. But I didn't want all this to end yet.
"Oh really? Are you going to buy it?" I tilt my head to the side taking in the painting infront of us.
"Sure, show me the price" She raised one of her eyebrows and turned the folder over, the price highliged in yellow. "Yeah no, we're going to New York"
"It's not that expensive!" There were five figures in that number.
"I'm not going to pay that for a painting that I only half like" We thank the security guard for letting us in after the gallery closed.
"You are going to spend more on the trip there" She reminds me.
And she was right, I'm going to spend a lot of money on that trip but not because of what she thinks.
"Oh I know that, come on, let's do something fun" I put my arm around her waist and pull her closer to me while we walk down the street.
The gallery was close to the hotel so we hadn't even bothered to take the car, having had dinner at a restaurant nearby and having planned to explore a bit of the city's night life after the gallery.
"Lewis this is not funny, you're running out of options, we only have three paintings left to see."
She didn't know it but I had already bought one of the paintings we saw in London. The burning house looks pretty cool in my house in Switzerland. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell it means.
"No work now Ela, now it's time to have fun"
We found a bar where you could hear the music from the street, we entered, attracted by the curiosity of what was in there.
It was open mic night apparently, a red-haired girl covering a Fleetwood Mac song on stage when we crossed the doors.
"I'll buy you a drink every time someone asks you for a photo" She proposed
"I'll buy you one every time someone asks for your number then" I help her take off her blazer and take the opportunity to look at her from top to bottom again. Her hair fell perfectly over her shoulders, barely revealing golden earrings in her ears.
"You're going to end up shit-faced" She chuckled, her eyes squinting from the smile on her face.
"Honey, you underestimate the pull you have on people, I bet that in approximately...an hour and a half we will be back at the hotel because you won't want to drink anymore" We arrived at the bar to order the first drink of the night.
