POV: 3rd person

Today was Larri's birthday. He rented out a movie room to celebrate. The movie he selected was the new Barbie movie.

Nick, Matt, and Chris have seen the movie already. Everyone else, however, have not. So, honestly, they didn't pay any attention half the time.

Frankie seemed to be miserable. Anyone who truly looked at him could tell. No one knew really what was wrong except for Larri.

Frankie's father isn't a great guy, a bit of a drunk. Frankies car was paid by his mother a year before she passed, however his father could care less.

Frankie's car was used more by his father than himself.

He apologized to Larri for his moodiness, he didn't want to ruin the day. What made everything worse, is that the movie theater was freezing.

Frankie sighed and dropped the boxed candy into his lap. He was frustrated at his father. He attempted to keep his attention on the movie.

Though he was so angry, Nick Sturniolo sat beside him. While he tried watching the movie, he couldn't get his mind off Nick.

Nick averted his eyes. The theater lights began dim and all of the chatter around them disappeared.

The Sony intro started and someone let out a "WOO!" from another row. (Probably Chris) There's a wave of little laughs, Matt's being the loudest-- and Nick is one of them. However, Frankie stays silent.

Total silence, not even a chuckle. His hand resting on the armrest, they are shaking slightly. Nick tried to ignore it. All he wanted to do was comfort Frankie, but he didn't want to bother him further.

The theater was cold and Frankie  had a seemingly thin hoodie on. And as much as Nick wanted to ask, Frankie clearly didn't seem to be in the best mood at the moment.

Nick just turned his attention back to the movie. It was good, Barbie never got old.

Whispers came from the row behind him and he could hear Chris talking to his friends about his crush who sat beside Nick. It made him smile, however..

"You okay?"

Frankie freezes and his brown eyes widen. Nick barley even registered the words leaving his mouth. He really hated making Frankie upset. Seeing the way he seemed shooken up, he assumed that he did.

"Yeah.... I'm alright"

Frankies whisper is soft and his eyes move to Nick's  eyes and then his...lips? The theater was dark. It was totally just the lighting.

"Are you gonna let go?"

Let go?

Nick looks down at Frankie's armrest, which now included his hand, laid ontop of Frankie's cold hand. A thrill ran up his spine and he was suddenly hyper aware of the fact that they were practically holding hands.

The theater was starting to feel very hot and claustrophobic.

"Nicky?"

Nick looks back up at Frankie. Frankie's eyes were soft and were staring directly into Nick's .

"Are you going to let go?"

Frankie's fingers shifted slightly under Nick's grip. He moved with them.

"Do you want me to?"

Frankie shakes his head and takes a much needed deep breath.

"It's cold in here anyway. You're warm."

Nick looks away first, his eyes immediately attaching back to the movie. Frankie did the same, trying to ignore the fact that he was holding hands with Nicolas Sturniolo  of all people.

Nick couldn't even pay attention to the rest of the movie. The screen continued to flash clots of pink and showed the adventures of Barbie and Ken. And Nick was holding Frankie's  hand.

A Barbie doll coming alive seemed more believable than this moment.

•••

Suddenly, Nicks hand droped onto the warm armrest and He snaped out for his thoughts.

The theater lights are on and the credits are rolling.

Frankie was quickly out the theater. Nick followed closely behind. Slinking his hand into Frankie's unsurprisingly warmer hand.

Frankie, instead of tensing up, relaxed. Him and Nick are friends, but this gave him an idea of something more.

Automatically he was more happy with Nick beside him.

He couldn't wait for the future.
