_________Miguel's mind was buzzing with frustration and annoyance, he needed a moment to compose himself before he said or did anything reckless.
As he walked down the corridor to his HQ he stopped for a moment and turned around to see Jessica Drew and Ben Reilly behind him, arms crossed and expressions serious.
"What now?" he asked, his voice colder than he intended.
"We need to talk," Jessica said, her tone firm. "About Y/n.." her hands clenched into fists as she stewed in her frustration. She didn't know if she could stand watching Y/n's insufferable behavior any longer.
She had seen her attitude firsthand at their first meeting, and it had left a bad taste in her mouth. Now, she was planning on talking to Miguel about it, hoping to persuade him to send her back.
Miguel sighed, feeling his annoyance rise even further "I don't want to talk about her" he said, his voice heavy with anger.
"You don't have to" Jessica said, stepping forward. She took a deep breath, looking Miguel in the eyes. "But I can sense that you're annoyed with her. You're not the only one."
Miguel glared at her for the last time and turned to walk away, his furious steps led him inside his HQ.
His eyes never left the multiple screens in front of him as he tapped away at his keyboard, ignoring Jessica's constant babble.
He was laser focused on something else, collecting and analyzing data on Spider Ere, determined to get a sense of who she was and what she was capable of. The sound of Jessica's voice faded into the background as Miguel's mind worked to process the incoming data, his fingers flying over the keys in a blur of activity.
"And!.. Maybe it's time to consider sending her back to her universe" Jessica said, her tone incisive as she stood close behind him.
Miguel sighed, feeling frustrated.
"Jessica" he said, his voice firm. "I don't want to hear it."Jessica rolled her eyes, as if his opinion on the matter was of no consequence to her. "Come on," she exclaimed "Please don't tell me you are actually planning to count her in"
Miguel's frustration reached its peak, and he felt his anger boiling over. "And what are you doing talking to me about it?" he said, his voice rising. "Me caga! If you got anything to complain about, you do it with Miles and Peter, not me Jesse."
Jessica's expression hardened, and for a moment, Miguel thought he had pushed her too far. But then she just laughed, a cold sound that set his teeth on edge.
"Well they somehow think she is infallible, which is stupid of course. But YOU, Miguel. You're smarter than that." She spoke, the weight of her words carrying a newfound seriousness. "I'm just calling it like I see it. If you can't see that she isn't up to be here, then maybe you're not a good leader as I thought." She added, crossing her arms.
"Now I'm the bad leader?" he repeated, his tone dripping with skepticism. He stepped towards her with determined strides, closing the distance between them.
Jessica let out a deep breath, staring straight into his eyes. "I said you're not a good leader if you let her into the Spider Society" she repeated, her voice heavy now.
"I don't care what you think, Jessica," Miguel said. "I'm the leader of the Spider Society, and I'll make the decisions on who is worthy of joining us. Not you. Not anyone else."
Jessica took a step back at the intensity of Miguel's reaction, her expression serious. "You're making a mistake, Miguel," she sighed. "And I'm just here to stop it"
Miguel's anger intensified, and his face darkened more with each second. He was about to say something when a voice interrupted them.
"Guys guys.. Calm down" Ben said, stepping forward "I won't let you fight over this"
"I mean, that girl is a ten, Miguel. but she is not worth the fight between you and Jessica" he added, his voice confident now.
As the words left his mouth, there was a moment of awkward silence, followed by a barrage of cringed glares from both Jessica and Miguel.
"Please stop talking. You are not helping" Jessica broke the awkward silence. "And we are not fighting over that kid, isn't that right?" She added, this time glaring at Miguel.
Miguel's frustration with the situation was evident in his movements. He knew that he shouldn't be arguing with his friends over something as trivial as Y/n, he thought. But he couldn't shake off the feeling of anger.
Miguel sighed, nodding in agreement "You're right, she's not worth this drama"
Ben smiled, his expression lighter now. "That's the spirit," he said. "Now let's forget about this and go about our day."
Jessica let out a deep breath, her expression softening now. "Right," she said. "I'm sorry for what I said earlier, Miguel. It was out of line."
"It's okay, Jessica. I understand your concerns," Miguel said. "And I'm sorry for yelling, I got a bit carried away."
"It's okay..
Well, I guess that's all for now," she said, her voice sounding tired now. "But don't forget what we talked about."Miguel nodded, his eyes focused on his screens now as he typed out a few lines of code. "I won't forget, Jessica," he said, his voice heavy now. "I'll find a way to deal with her"
Jessica let out another sigh, feeling a sense of frustration wash over her "You'd better, Miguel," she said, her voice sounding almost threatening now. "Because if you don't, the Spider Society might not be so welcoming to her anymore."
With that, Jessica turned on her heel and walked out of the HQ, Ben following close behind. Neither of them looked back.
As they left, Miguel couldn't help but roll his eyes at their departure. Despite his promises to Jessica, he had no intention of approaching Y/n about her behavior anytime soon. He was too busy running the Spider Society to deal with silly complaints.. Maybe.
Suddenly, his gaze settled upon a screen that showed Y/n in the company of Miles and Peter. He observed her carefree demeanor, the way she is already getting along with them. His expression turning serious as he took in the scene...
But in that moment, Miguel's heart skipped a beat as Y/n's fingers slowly reached up and plucked off her mask, revealing her face for the first time.
Her beauty was evident, a certain tenderness to her features, something in the curve of her lips and in the way her eyes were set in her face, her beautiful young feminine features that spoke of her youth but also of her experience.
There was a certain aura to her that was both mysterious and inviting. A presence that made him feel like she was someone important and that he was intrigued by her. He was distracted for a moment, before he had to quickly shake himself out of it, pushing away the flying screen with his fingers.
