Y/n sat alone at a table, eyes on her lemon juice in boredom. Around her, guests were engrossed in various discussions about the soon auction.
She sighed, the upcoming auction weighed heavily on her mind. She hoped that everything would go smoothly and that she would manage to purchase the gown without any hitches.
Her fingers tapped rhythmically on the table, she desperately wished for her spider instinct to kick in, to get her to action. Anything would be better than just sitting here, and serving nothing.
Her eyes wandered across the room until they landed on the two models she had bad-mouthed backstage. The duo was now dancing together in a rather exaggerated manner, casting sly glances her way.
Their whispers and giggles were obvious attempts to make her feel insecure, as if their antics could somehow unsettle her.
Y/n rolled her eyes, unfazed by their juvenile behavior. They might have thought they were getting under her skin, but she was far from being affected.
With a dramatic flair, she opened her mouth slightly and pointed a finger toward it, mimicking a gagging motion.
The models paused mid-twirl, their expressions faltering as they caught sight of Y/n’s exaggerated gesture.
They exchanged looks of irritation before turning their backs to her, resuming their dance with forced enthusiasm.
Y/n took another sip of her juice, the cool liquid barely doing something to calm her nerves. She needed a distraction, something to keep her occupied until it was time to act.
Her eyes scanned the room again, hoping to catch sight of something, anything, to divert her attention.
Then, out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of someone who seemed familiar. Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized the broad shoulders and confident stance.
It looked like... Miguel O'Hara. A soft grin formed on her lips as memories of their time together flooded her mind.
She remembered the way she used to tease him back in the Spider Society, pushing his buttons until he got all heated up.
The memory of their almost kiss surfaced, making her narrow them eyes and bite on her nail. His intense gaze, the electricity between them – it all felt so vivid and real.
"Hmph," she whispered to herself in a pouting tone. "If he were here, I'd probably be biting his ear right now."
The thought made her giggle softly, imagining his reaction. She could almost see his grumpy face twisting in annoyance, trying to maintain his stoic demeanor while she nibbled playfully at his ear. The image was so vivid and amusing that it brought a little lightness to her mood.
She glanced around, hoping no one had noticed her moment of daydreaming. The last thing she needed was for someone to catch her looking like a lovestruck teenager
She let out a sigh to clear her daydreaming, fixing her hair in a quick, self-conscious gesture. "I'm not obsessed, I'm not obsessed" she whispered to herself, trying to convince her own racing thoughts.
But despite her efforts to stay composed, she couldn't help the pang of longing that settled in her chest. She missed Miguel more than she cared to admit. His presence, his aura, the way he made her get into her wild side.
Suddenly, a light tap on the shoulder made Y/n flinch slightly. She turned to see Marjana, her manager, standing there with a concerned furrow in her brows. "Why are you sitting here alone, darling?" Marjana asked, her voice filled with concern.
