---Y/n remained where Miguel had left her. Her eyes scanned her surroundings, taking in the dimly lit corridor with its web of high-tech machinery and monitors.
She let out a slow breath, her mind still replaying the charged encounter with Miguel. Despite the tension, she felt a strange sense of satisfaction at having rattled him.
Her gaze dropped to her web-watch, the device Peter B. Parker had given her. She tapped at the screen, noting its simplicity and the glaring absence of a portal option.
She frowned, studying it closely, wondering why she hadn't been granted full access. The watch seemed almost too basic, a subtle reminder of the lack of trust still present in this world.
As she pondered this, she noticed a group of three Spider-People approaching her, their faces lit up with genuine smiles. At first, she regarded them with a suspicious stare, her expression cold and guarded.
But then, she spotted something that made her heart soften-a Spider-Cat trotting alongside them, its tiny mask and costume almost too adorable to bear. The sight of the feline superhero brought an unexpected sense of peace over her.
The Spider-People stopped a few feet away, their friendly smiles undeterred by her initial wariness. One of them, a tall Spider-Woman with a vibrant suit and an infectious laugh, chimed in, "Don't worry, we don't bite. Well, except for Spider-Cat here." She winked as the cat meowed softly, its little whiskers twitching.
Y/n scoffed dismissively, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, how comforting. A spider-cat. Now I feel truly safe."
The Spider-People exchanged glances and shrugged their shoulders, seemingly unfazed by her sarcasm. Spider-Cat trotted forward, carrying another Web-Watch in its tiny mouth. The watch glowed and looked exactly like the ones worn by every Spider-Person in the Spider Society.
One of the Spider-People, a more reserved Spider-Man with kind eyes, stepped forward and said, "Miguel told us to give you this. The one in your hand was made to be temporary."
Y/n's eyes widened slightly, a small smile tugging at her lips. For a moment, she thought that perhaps Miguel had decided not to kick her out after all. But her smile quickly disappeared when the Spider-Man continued, "We were also told to escort you back to your universe now."
Her expression hardened, disappointment flashing in her eyes. "Oh, I see... He doesn't want me here then."
The Spider-Woman with the vibrant suit shook her head gently. "Not exactly. He actually gave you access to come back at any time with this watch."
Y/n's eyebrows raised in surprise. She took the watch from Spider-Cat and examined it closely. The device was sophisticated, far more advanced than the temporary one she had been given. It was a clear sign of trust, albeit a reluctant one.
"He gave me full access?" Y/n asked, scanning the watch with curiosity before slipping it onto her wrist.
The Spider-Man nodded. "Yes, he did. You can come back anytime. Consider it... an extended invitation."
Y/n activated the Web-Watch, the device humming softly as it opened a glowing portal to her universe. She took one last glance at the Spider-People, her expression cold and serious.
Her gaze lingered on each of them, her glare making it clear she was not to be underestimated. Without another word, she stepped through the portal.
She landed inside her room, the familiar surroundings greeting her as the portal closed behind her.
It was night, the room dimly lit by the glow of a nearby streetlamp filtering through the curtains.
Y/n let out a sigh, the weight of the day settling heavily on her shoulders. She crossed the room and sat on her bed, the soft mattress a welcome relief.
