Confession

Knuckles slowly wakes up to sound of a knife being sharpened. His vision starts to clear up as Jade tests the sharpness of the blade with her thumb. He looks over seeing sonic and tails already away but they kept quiet. "You're finally awake knuckles~" she said and turns to face him. "Why?" He asked. "Why what?" She replied getting up. "Why did you kill him? Your own brother?" He asked as she walked behind him. She pulled his fur making his head bend over the back of the chair and felt the knife on his cheek. "Simple he was the golden child who was going to take my wealth from me. I couldn't let him have this place and my parents money no he had to go. Yet there was one tiny problem I had to get married first so you my sexy red echidna will marry me." She smiled. "So what do you could kill me later?" He said grunting from his fur being pulled. Sonic and tails slowly break out of their ropes with shadows help and the two snuck out quietly. "Not at first but since you know my secret I will all I need to do is to keep your mouth shut but removing your tongue~" she laughed wickedly. Shadow growls he can't let his sister get away with this. He manages to grab a bottle and tosses it at her. "Now h—OW!" She yelled and looked behind her. "Who's there?!" She yelled and walked in the direction until she was face to face with shadow but doesn't seem him. Shadow saw the crazy in her eyes and knew he had to get knuckles out of here soon. She growls and storms back to knuckles in a fit of rage. "WHO ELSE IS HELPING YOU?!" She demanded. "It's just me and my friends I came here with" he growled. "LIAR WHO ELSE IS HELPING YOU?!" "I TOLD YOU!" Knuckles snapped. "NO MATTER I WILL KILL THEM THE SAME WAY I DID SHADOW!!!" She yelled and smiled wickedly. "YOU WHAT?!" Her smiled fades and she looks up seeing her parents, sonic and Tails with two local police officers staying as guests standing there. "Well that was easy" Sonic smirked. "You murdered shadow...." Her mother said tearing up. She looked at knuckles's who smiled at her getting caught. "Yes I did mother and I gotten away with it until now." She said coldly. "I guess there's no reason for you to live then echidna" she quickly jabs the knife in his leg making him scream and sonic bolts over to grab her while the cops put her in cuffs and tails untied knuckles. Shadow's parents call an ambulance while tails and sonic tend to knuckles wound. Shadow stood over knuckles and used a bit of his power to heal him enough to live through this. Knuckles looks at shadow who smiles as a light forms behind him. Shadow was finally free since his killer was brought to justice. "Thank you my love..... thank you and your friends..... I'm at peace. I wish I knew you when I was alive perhaps we could've had a very happy marriage. When you get to the hospital there's a man named Mephiles I know you and him will have a very bright future together." He said and gave knuckles a ghostly kiss before the light surrounds him completely and he was gone. Knuckles was heartbroken that someone he fell in love with was a ghost but happy to set him free.
The ambulance arrived as well as the other police officers. Jade cracked and confessed to everything she had done. Her trail is set to two months from now. Sonic and Tails wait for knuckles to get out of the ER while talking to Shadows parents. They decided to give Knuckles the hotel since he helped them bring their son peace and he appreciates the historical value of the place thanks to Sonic and Tails. Knuckles pulled through and smiled seeing his friends walk in with smiles on their faces along with their girlfriends who rush over. They told him what the Darks decided and he accepted their offer. As the group talked for a bit they were interrupted by a knock at the door. "Come in" Amy chimed. A male black and teal hedgehog with greenish blue eyes walks in wearing a white doctor's coat, black pants, grey shirt and black tennis shoes. He looked almost like shadow. "My you're a popular person Mr. Echidna." He smiled and knuckles felt his chest warm up. "My name is Doctor Dark I—" "Your first name wouldn't be.... Mephiles would it?" Knuckles asked and he looked up. "It actually is how did you know?" He smirked. Tails and sonic smirked before excusing themselves with Amy and cream who were confused as they left. "I might've heard the name mentioned while staying at the Victorian style hotel" "So your the one who solved my cousin's murder. I must say I'm happy he got justice and that Jade will go away for a long time. Thank you... I was close with my cousin...." Mephiles said as a tear fell. "How could I repay you?" He asked.
