"Pound it!"
In unison, the two heroes of Paris, Ladybug and Chat Noir, gave each other a proud smile and fist bump before parting ways for the day. Each of them found a small space, hidden from the public eye, to detransform from their heroic appearance into their civilian attire, cautiously making their way back into the local lycée.
Around the school, voices could be heard talking about the events that had just taken place in the midst of their school day. Over the school year, it had become a common occurrence to have the day interrupted by an akuma attack within the city.
On that particular day, the first day of the final week of the school year, the school day had been interrupted just after lunch. Students had been filing back into their classrooms when the neighboring area had been under attack. Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste, Ladybug and Chat Noir respectively, had made their individual excuses and escapes in order to transform and defend the city.
Both had made the attempt to sneak back into their classroom, noticed by the students around them. Individually, they made their ways back to their seats and completed the rest of their work. They each had been relieved to be back with their friends and in their school.
As the school day had come to an end, the two made their way into the school courtyard with their respective best friends, Alya Cesaire and Nino Lahiffe. From talking about class, to the akuma attack, to their plans for the rest of the week into the summer, the best friends were enjoying their time together.
Looking at his friends, Adrien had realized the difference that a year had made in his life. At that point the previous year, Adrien and his younger twin sister, Adelaine, had lost their mother and their lives had began to change completely. While Adrien had taken to staying within the house, his sister had gone the opposite direction. After a few months, the younger twin had left for London to stay with their cousin Felix Fathom and their Aunt Amelie Graham de Vanily.
Standing and laughing with his friends, Adrien began to feel his phone vibrating in his pocket. Taking it in his hand, he noticed his sister's picture on the screen as it rang from her phone call.
"Oh, hold on. Adelaine is calling," Adrien answered his phone, hearing the familiar greeting of his younger sister. "Hi Lainie."
"Addy, are you busy?" his sister's voice was sounded as if she were out of breath.
"Well, I'm standing in the school courtyard with my friends-"
"Your friends? Perfect. Put me on video," Adelaine's voice almost had a smile in it.
"Geesh, okay," Adrien looked to his friends, each of them staring back at him in confusion. "Give me one second, Lainie."
Beckoning his friends over as he and his sister switched to a video call, the sight on the other side of the screen left him speechless. His sister had piles of dresses scattered along the length of her bed. She seemed to have been frustrated with what was in front of her. To the side, her suitcase sat open, clothes spilling from it unfolded.
"Uh, Lainie? Why does it look like a natural disaster hit your room?" Adrien's lips quirked into an amused grin, his brows lifting slightly.
"That stupid gala this weekend," she huffed in frustration, she was looking between the different dresses, picking up the hem on one before dropping it once again. "It's my first official public appearance in Paris since I left for London last summer, and it's for the Chapman Project. You and I both know Mom was a big supporter of the Chapman Project."
"I really think you might be overthinking this," Adrien winced a bit.
Behind him, Nino, Alya, and Marinette all exchanged looks with one another. They could see the screen Adrien held, watching as the younger twin's lips twitched down as she frowned at her brother.
