Back Before the Start of Us (on hold)

Time wont fly, it's like I'm paralysed by it

He looked the same. Younger maybe but exactly the same. She broke eye contact and tried desperately to look anywhere but at him. She could feel all of the Avengers staring at them and she could hear Coulson urging them to move forward into the meeting room but he was a million miles away and there was sand in her ears, pouring onto the floor and covering her completely.
"Morgan. Morgan!" It was Leo but it didn't matter because he was further away than Coulson and she was confused. She couldn't understand why the walls were suddenly on the ceiling. Everything was stumbling sideways and her heart was beating so fast she couldn't understand why it was still working. She just couldn't understand any of it.
But then her feet were moving forward into the next room and the sand refused to follow her and Leo and Coulson and the others were no longer so far away. The walls were back in their place and her heart was stumbling back into its usual rhythm. She could breathe again.

As soon as they entered the room, Immy's face immediately lit up and she pushed her way through the rest of the group to the front where her sister was.
"Mummy!" she shouted as she attempted to launch herself around the table to the other end where her mum was sat.
"Oh no you don't." Charlotte muttered, stepping forward to grab Immy before she could reach their mum and swinging her upwards.
Charlotte was clinging onto Immy despite her trying her best to wiggle out of her grip. "No fair Charlie let me go! Let me go!" Immy cried as she continued to try to get down.
"I can't Immy bear, you can't go to mummy. It's a bit complicated why." Charlie replied quietly, setting Immy down and holding onto her shoulders
"Is it because of da machine? Did I do bad Charlie?" she was about to start crying, all of them could see that clearly. And the Avengers all staring and Coulson and Hill standing awkwardly by wasn't helping whatsoever.
"No Immy bear you didn't do anything wrong. It was Uncle Tony's fault this happened. He shouldn't have left everything lying out in the open. One of us was bound to mess with something and get us in some sort of trouble." Charlotte seemed to have some magical way of calming her little sister down.
"Am I in trouble?"
"No! Of course not."
"I want mummy."
"I know."
"Can I go to her now?" her puppy dog eyes couldn't make Charlie say yes this time.
"No Immy bear we went through this."
"But she's right over there though."
A sigh. "I know."
"Pleeeeaaaaaase Charlie."
"No. Not now okay?"
"Later?"
"Maybe"
"Okay. Later."

Coulson cleared his throat and everyone turned to look at him. "Umm. Right, well. Now that that's sorted I uh well Fury is busy and..."
"Oh spit it out Coulson we don't have all day. Or should I say all night. Because you woke us up at whatever god forsaken time this is and have made us wait twenty minutes and now you can't even tell us why we're here. Please just spit it out." Tony grumbled as he let his head rest on his hand.
"Well um. We need to figure out who exactly these kids are and we're pretty sure we know and Fury is in agreement with us but too busy to do anything about it and we think it's best if you were all here for this now." Coulson explained.
"You know you could have just asked us right?" Leo said with a half amused smirk on his face.
"Yeah we would have told you." Nate added, turning to look at James.
James just shrugged but his smirk matched that of the other two boys.
"Well are you who I think you are?" Coulson asked.
"If you brought the Avengers here for this then I think you've got it pretty much spot on." Tatum answered, the buzzing in her head finally subsiding now that everyone was talking again and her thoughts had begun circulating again.
"Okay well let's get to it." Coulson said clapping his hands and moving the kids so that they were in some form of a line up.

Katia took a deep breath. She knew her mum would be in complete denial about this but there was no other way forwards. They had no other option.
"Full names please. And we'll go down the line from this end first." Coulson explained as him and Hill moved to sit in two empty seats at the end of the table nearest to the kids.
"Umm so you just want us to say our names?" Leo asked, his smirk gone and a nervous shake to his voice.
"Ages would be great too. Full names and ages from each of you please it would make filling out these files that much easier." Hill replied, gesturing to the stack of empty files in front of her with her pen.
