Years have passed and Brooke was really treated like a real Mitchell. Only a few people knew that she was adopted. Well, for a fact, it seemed to Brooke that she is really a Mitchell by blood and by soul. Yes, there were rumors that she’s just adopted and all sorts of information but Brooke didn’t mind that at all. She was confident that she is a Mitchell. Until one day, a thing changed everything.
“Lacey, when will you stop treating Brooke like a little baby?! For Pete’s sake, she is fifteen year old already! She could decide for her own now!” Brooke heard George shout inside the library of their house. As much as she wanted to go back to her room and pretend that there’s nothing wrong with what’s happening, she just can’t seem to find the will to stop herself from eavesdropping.
“And what do you expect me to do huh? Act as if she doesn’t exist in this world like the way you treat her? You know what, you’re impossible!” Lacey shouted back in return. This is not the first time that Brooke heard her parents fighting but for some reason, Brooke felt that this fight is different.
“Fine, I admit it, I’ve been a horrible father to her. But did you ever think about what I feel? No! For what’s important to you is that daughter of yours!”
“Why are you acting like that George? All along I thought you were in favor with what we’ve done ages ago? Why does it seem like you’ve regretted everything we did before?” Now, the voice of Lacey was shaking. Tears started rolling down from her eyes.
“Okay! I was in really in favor with your plan but the moment you spoiled you’re daughter, everything changed. I started to hate the fact that she started to evolve to someone that I do not know. Well, I can’t do anything about that, do I? In the first place, I really don’t know where she came from.” George really emphasized the words your plan. Yes, they both wanted to have their child but it was Lacey’s idea to adopt someone from that lowly orphanage where they met Brooke.
The words of George kept on running through Brooke’s mind. She can’t understand what George meant. As much as she wanted to listen some more, she can’t stand it anymore. Brooke silently left her parents and went back to her room, tears slowly falling from her eyes.
“What the hell’s wrong with them? What does Daddy mean? I don’t know what to believe in anymore.” Brooke cried some more until she found herself to sleep.
The next morning, Brooke woke up and tried to pretend that she didn’t hear a thing at all. She wanted to start anew. But it seems like she can’t. George was not at the dining table for breakfast. Lacey’s eyes are somewhat puffy, probably due to crying all night long. Silence filled the air until Brooke asked Lacey a question.
“Mommy, what happened? Why are your eyes puffy?”
“Don’t mind me baby. You better eat your breakfast or you’ll be late for school.”
“But I can’t leave you like this Mom. Do you want me to stay with you?”
“I’m alright baby. You need to go to school.” Lacey forced a smile but Brooke didn’t buy it.
“No Mom. I won’t go to school unless you tell me what’s wrong.” Lacey let out a deep sigh before talking again.
“Fine. You’re daddy and I had a little fight last night. But don’t worry about it. We’re working on it already. Now, get in the car and you’ll be late already.”
“Okay Mom. Just tell me if you need someone to talk to, alright?”
“I will. Take care baby.” Then Brooke kissed Lacey goodbye and went to the car to go to school.
Lacey finished her breakfast and went to the music room of their house. She played a song wherein she could pour in all the emotions that she is feeling. She feels bad for Brooke but she knows that George has a point. Brooke became someone else.
The moment Brooke became a high school student, she changed. She wears revealing clothes. She answers back rudely whenever George talks to her. Lacey caught her drinking a glass of vodka late at night. She goes home late. She fails in many of her subjects. She has a boyfriend and her parents don’t know about that.
All things remained that way until George discovered everything. He saw Brooke drinking in the garden of their house. The teachers of Brooke called him up to tell him what’s happening with Brooke’s performance in school and to do something with the way Brooke dresses up. He even saw Brooke kissing a guy in her room torridly. George got so mad and so the way he treats Brooke changed dramatically.
“Brooke, what’s the matter with you? We’ve given you everything that you asked for and what do we get in return? Rebellion? Failing grades? Having a boyfriend whom you’re kissing torridly in your own room? Drinking in the garden? For Pete’s sake Brooke! You’re still a minor!”
“Are you done with your eenie meenie speech, DAD? I’ll go to my room now.” Brooke said while flicking her fingers.
“How dare you talk to me like that?! You little bastard!” George wasn’t able to control his anger anymore and so he slapped Brooke.
“Yes. I can be a bastard but I’ll make sure that I’ll be the best bastard in town. So long DAD.” And Brooke left George in the living room. The hands of George are still shaking due to the anger that he feels against Brooke. As much as he wanted to stop himself from hurting Brooke, he can’t let Brooke continue living the way that she lives right now. She needs to go back to the same old Brooke that everyone loved and adored her for.
What happened to the once charming Brooke? No one knows except Brooke alone.
“I hate him! He doesn’t need to act like a good father to me. I want to be living this way and there’s no way he could stop me from being a b!tch.” Brooke said while walking out of their house.
A car stopped by in front of their gate and immediately, Brooke went inside it. She closed the door of the car and kissed the driver at once. After their kiss, the driver asked Brooke a question.
“Babe, what happened? I thought we won’t meet today so that you could let your Dad believe that everything’s normal?”
“Well he found out about everything. He knows that I’m a sucker at school. He knows about my drinking and most especially, he knows about us.”
“Shoot! That’s bullsh!t!”
“I know right? That’s the reason why I left him there alone. I can’t even accept the fact that he slapped me. How dare him!” Brooke said with conviction. She’s really pissed off but George, who was left at the Mitchell residence, was more pissed than she is.
“What do you want to do then?”
“Oh, you know. The usual thing.”
“Ooh. How about giving me a warm up?” The guy Brooke was talking to said in a flirting tone.
“Sure thing babe.” And Brooke kissed the guy torridly until they were both gasping for breath.
Brooke didn’t care about the world. She didn’t care about George. She didn’t care about what other people might think about her. All that matters to her is that she rules her life even if she uses the wrong way.
Brooke may be hurting today but with what she’s doing, George was falling into pieces.
After all, he’s still Brooke’s father, right?
