Luke and Brooke went to a restaurant after that. They ate and talked like they’ve never done before. Happiness could be seen in their eyes. They held each other’s hands and wished that they could last like that forever.

After eating, Luke drove Brooke home. Luke was kind of hesitant to enter the house of the Mitchells after what happened between him and Brooke but Brooke assured him that his parents didn’t know everything that happened.

They went inside and Luke was very nervous. Brooke held his hand and smiled. With that smile, he became calmer. What’s with her smile? Luke wondered.

They continued walking until they reached the living room. Lacey and George were there happily chatting while waiting for Brooke.

“Uhm. Mom, Dad?” Brooke said.

“Oh, you’re here! Wait. I think I know you. Isn’t he familiar George?” Lacey replied then George looked at Luke from head to toe.

“Yes. He’s kind of familiar but I can’t seem to remember where I saw him.” George said.

“Mom, Dad, are you sure you can’t remember him?” Lacey and George looked at each other then answered Brooke’s question in chorus.

“No darling.”

“Ugh. Never mind.” Brooke held Luke’s hand tighter and dragged him nearer to her parents.

“Mom, Dad, let me introduce him once again. This is Luke Nichols. Does his name ring a bell already?”

“It’s familiar but I really can’t remember.” Lacey answered.

Brooke slapped her forehead with her hand because of what’s happening. She can’t believe that her parents can’t remember Luke.

“Mom, Dad, Luke was my boyfriend during middle school. Remember now?”

“Oh, right. Luke. Now I remember. I’m sorry if I forgot you.” Lacey said.

“Uhm. That’s alright Mrs. Mitchell. It has been a long since I visited here so I understand if you can’t remember me that well.”

“I’m really really sorry Luke.”

“No need for apologies Ma’am.” Luke said then smiled.

“Anyways, what brought you here mister?” George asked Luke.

“Dad?” Brooke said while trying to make her eyes look bigger to indicate his dad to stop the interrogation process.

“I’m just asking. There’s nothing wrong with that right?”

“Fine. Apparently, Luke is my boyfriend again. So you’ll be seeing him here more often. Alright?”

“Point taken young lady. But wait. Are you studying at the same school right now?” Brooke was about to answer when Luke butted in.

“Yes sir. I transferred just this school year.”

“Ah. Now I see. Have you eaten dinner already?”

“Yes dad. We ate already before we went here.”

“Alright. Are you done with your assignments?”

“I’ll start doing them in a while.”

“Okay. If you need help you know where to knock alright?”

“Yes dad. Could we go upstairs now?”

“Yeah. Sure. Go ahead.”

“Thanks dad.”

“You’re welcome Brooke.” Brooke held Luke’s hand again then they walked towards the staircase and went straight to Brooke’s bedroom.

Brooke placed her things on top of her desk while Luke placed his things on the chair. They sat down at Brooke’s bed and instead of doing their assignments, they just talked.

“Brooke.” Luke started.

“Yeah?”

“I’m sorry for all the things that I have done. I don’t know what has gotten into me when I did that stupid thing to you before. Could you forgive me for those?”

“Luke, I wanted to forgive you. I wanted to forget all those horrible things. But I guess my heart could forgive but my mind can’t forget. What happened before can’t be erased. It has been a part of my history already. I just hope that history won’t repeat itself. Could I count on that Luke?”

“Of course Brooke. All I ever wanted after that incident was to show you how sorry I am and how much I want to have you back. Sad to say that I didn’t have the chance to do that since you moved to another school. I didn’t know where you transferred. I just found out about it this year when I saw one of my close friends before. I’m sorry if acted like that when we met again. I just want to grab your attention. I guess that made the situation worse. But I swear, I’m really really sorry.”

“Ssssh.” Brooke placed her index finger on top of Luke’s lips to quiet him down.

“Let’s not talk about the past alright? Let’s make the most out of the present and hope for a better future. That’s all I’m asking for.” Brooke smiled and stood up. She went to her desk and started doing her assignments.

Luke followed Brooke and hugged her from behind. Brooke faced Luke and hugged him back.

“I love you Brooke. From this moment, no one could separate us.”

“I love you too Luke.” Luke kissed Brooke’s forehead and smiled.

“Come on. Let’s do our assignments already.” Luke said and they did their school works.

After doing their assignments, Luke and Brooke rested for a while before going downstairs. It’s getting late already and so Luke needs to go home already if he doesn’t want to be late for school.

When they went downstairs, Lacey and George were at the living room again. This time, they were drinking their chocolate drink. Brooke and Luke went near them so that Luke could bid his goodbye.

“Uhm. Mom, Dad?”

“Yes dear?” Lacey asked.

“Uhm. I’ll be going already Ma’am. It’s getting late so I need to go home already. Thanks for welcoming me again here.”

“No problem dear. Do you have your own car or would you commute?”

“I have my own car Ma’am.”

“Alright. Take care when driving.”

“Thanks.”

“Uhm. I’ll just walk with Luke up to the garage okay?”

“Alright.” Luke and Brooke went out of the house and walked until they reached the garage. They stopped walking when they reached the car of Luke.

“I better get going. See you tomorrow.” Luke said then he kissed Brooke on her right cheek.

“Okay. Take care. Good night.”

“Good night.” Luke went inside his car and started the engine. After which, he started driving and went home.
