A month has passed since Agnes stayed in the house of the Mitchells. Every time Brooke sees her, it’s as if all of her problems are gone. Yes. Agnes has a great impact to Brooke. It’s as if Agnes was the older person who guides and washes away all the worries of Brooke. Maybe Agnes couldn’t understand everything that is happening in Brooke’s life but one thing’s for sure: she knows that she’ll do whatever it takes to make her cousin Brooke happy.
Even if Brooke is happy living with Agnes, all of her problems go back whenever she is at school. Luke transferred to her school. They are classmates in all subjects. For most people, Luke is a prince charming that they have been waiting for or maybe the man of their dreams. But for Brooke, Luke is a nightmare that she needs to get away from.
As much as possible, Brooke sits with one of her friends. Whenever she goes to the washroom, library, canteen, or any place in their school, she always asks someone to accompany her. Her friends are sort of becoming suspicious already why all of a sudden she acts like that but whenever she’s asked if something’s wrong, she always says that everything’s fine.
“Brooke, tell me the truth. Is something bothering you? Come on. Tell me. I’m your bestfriend for Pete’s sake!” Leslie told Brooke while they are at the washroom.
Brooke just shrugged and didn’t answer the question of Leslie. She looked at her reflection on the mirror and just like that, tears started flowing from her eyes. Past events had a sudden flashback on her head that made her cry even more.
“Brooke. Brooke, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?” Leslie held Brooke on both shoulders and made Brooke face her.
“I-I don’t want to be the same girl in the past. I want to forget everything that happened between us. I can’t continue pretending that everything’s fine and that everything’s gonna be alright because it won’t be that way. I know he came back to get some revenge. Leslie, my life is at stake here. I can’t do this anymore.” Brooke said and cried some more. Her knees became so weak that Leslie needed to make Brooke sit on one of the chairs beside the sink.
“Brooke, I can’t understand what you’re talking about. Please enlighten me. I swear I won’t tell anyone about this.”
“I’ll tell you everything later. I don’t think this thing would be safe in this place. Just go with me after school okay?”
“Okay. Let’s go back to our class then.”
“Alright.” Then Brooke and Leslie left the washroom and went back to their class.
During their class, Luke kept on looking at Brooke. Brooke, on the other hand, avoids meeting the gaze of Luke. But Luke is persistent. He kept on passing nasty notes to Brooke. Brooke is pissed off already but she doesn’t want to cause any trouble so she just keeps her mouth shut.
I thought you are a b!tch.
How come I don’t see that?
Hey. Where did the fierceness
that I saw last time go?
I like you with that attitude more.
Hey. If you continue acting that way,
I might tell the whole school what
happened between us.
Brooke is holding her temper. Leslie knows that she might burst anytime so she held Brooke on one arm. Brooke looked at Leslie and Leslie gave her a smile of assurance. Assurance that she will be there and she won’t leave Brooke. With that, Brooke calmed down and tried to focus on their lesson once again.
