Song of chapter: Fine Line by Harry Styles
"Put a price on emotion, looking for something to buy. You've got my devotion, but man I can hate you sometimes."(Anastasia's point of view)
As Riven's stunning BMW faded into the distance, I surprisingly didn't feel the slightest bit relieved to see him go. He had rushed off quick after our brief goodbye and a part of me knew something was clearly wrong with him and that's why he left me so suddenly.
He was avoiding me and it was painfully obvious too.
I am not sure if it was something that I said or did to him last night, but I wish he would've just told me.
I hate being in the dark of things.
Maybe if I give him some time and space then he will tell me the truth?
I really need to go to sleep...
Oh shit- Stephanie is probably worried sick.
Remembering that I actually have a roommate, I hurry back to my dorm room and when there, I dig around in my bag, searching for my keys. As soon as I hear the jiggle of my keys, the door is opened for me and a distressed Stephanie pulls me into a very uncomfortable and tight hug.
As you could guess, I do not like hugs on the best of days.
"What happened last night and what's with never responding to my messages? I've been looking everywhere for you", she yells, fear lacing her tone and my head throbs at the sound of her voice.
She is still holding me against my will.
"Steph I-", I try to say but she isn't interested in hearing my excuses yet.
"Shush", she breathes out, while squeezing me harder.
She's in full mother mode.
"Rosie, thank God you're okay. I mean I ended up going home with Mason last night because we couldn't find you anywhere. I was scared to death for you. Where the hell have you been?", she expresses, sounding very agitated with me and I can understand why.
She lets go of me after that and takes a deep breath, much needed in her case.
"Look I have no idea what happened last night to be honest, but clearly I got very drunk. I mean drunk enough to end up at Riven's place", I let slip out without thinking and instantly regret it.
I really shouldn't mention Riven when I'm around her, I've learnt this the hard way over time.
The reason why I shouldn't mention him is because she's literally obsessed with us and thinks we are made for each other. I swear I've heard her mention to Mason things about our ship name or something like that recently, and that ship name she came up with is 'Rise' by mixing Riven and Rose together. It sounds completely ridiculous and weird, I know but it brings her joy somehow, mashing our names together like we're some sort of power couple.
"Oh my God, no way! You hooked up with Riven, wow just wow. Anastasia Rose Highland! I just knew this would happen", she passionately responds and if my eyes didn't hurt so much, then maybe I would roll them.
"God no, Steph! Why are you always so quick to think the dirtiest things? Nothing happened between Riven and I", I clarify in a dead serious tone and she gives me a certain look that means she doesn't exactly believe me.
Great.
"Oh spare me, like you haven't considered hooking up with him before", she retorts, not letting this revelation go.
"Um- I haven't, because we aren't like that", I defend Riven and I, but deep down I know we are so like that or at least we're both thinking about it.
I'm so fucking screwed.
