BEGINNING
Life was good in my hometown until...
"What are you doing with my things?!", mom got startled with the sudden bang I made after opening the door in my room.
"We already talk about this thing a few days ago and we're moving today."
It's 11 AM with a broad daylight that the sun strikes in one of the pictures of me having fun in school together with my friends.
"Do you think transferring me to a different school makes me a less brat?" I said as I swayed my hands, motioning how frustrated I am right now.
"Sweetheart", mom makes her way to me and holds my hands while forcing me to look at her face. "Look. This is for your own good. We just need to leave this place, start with our new life away from these things plus you need to focus on school, honey. You're entering 9th grade now"
I sighed, half defeated. Well, it's not like I can do something to stop them. They're still my parents and because I am living here with them, I need to obey them, at least.
You wonder what made my parents had such decision? simply because I am a total headache to them.
During my 8th grade, I learned how to drink alcohols through my friends influences."I see nothing wrong with drinking alcohol tho. I wonder why my parents think it will ruin my future when you're a inebriated. Just because you don't drink alcohol doesn't mean your future is secured, either." I rant as I get a spoon of sisig which serves as our pulutan.
"You have a point in that. We're already in 21st century yet these adults mind are being occupied by the practices during 1900's" Jam added. Her parents is also strict just like mine but she does things like as if she's as free as a dove.
"Hey you two, aren't you gettin' sick of ranting towards your parents behaviors? Come on, let's enjoy this night !", Chastin said as soon as he gulp his drink.
We then dance throughout the night until we felt our eyes slowly becoming heavy, a reminder that we're sleepy.
Everytime I woke up, I see mom and dad's angry reaction and as soon as i drink my medicine to ease the headache i am feeling, they're lecturing me about how bad alcohol is for my health.I soon got a boyfriend too, his name is William. He's just like me, hanging out late at night, drinking alcohols, smoking (well, i don't but i find him attractive whenever i saw him holding his cigarette with his two fingers), playing video games and anything a brat like us do. After a 2 months of having a not-so-romantic relationship with him, i finally ended it. That jerk is a CHEATER !
Ofcourse, I still cried because of him. I wept as my mom carress my hair along with my back, reminding me that this guy is imbecile and that, she don't deserve a girl like me. I soon tried to sleep in my mother's lap until I eventually slept.
How about my grades? Well, my motto is that, "We're too young to stress ourselves with acads. We should be having more fun because college is the real deal."
"What's with this grades?!", my dad asked me one night when we're having our dinner. I gazed my mom who's in a complete silence and just letting my dad sermon me.
"I-I'm s-sorry," I don't want to look at his direction because I don't want to see how mad he is right now. "I-I really tried my best, tho" I can feel my voice slowly fading as i said those words.
"Enough. We're moving anyway. In my hometown, well start all over again, especially you,"
"W-what?!" I asked. I looked at my mom, waiting for a respond as i am totally confused right now.
My mom sighed and tells me something that is completely unexpected. "Honey." she holds my palm. "Your dad and I decided to move away, in your grandpa's home, basically your dad's hometown. We don't want to but we have no choice. We are just thinking of your own good."
I want to protest that night but as soon as I see those convincing eyes of my mom, i just nod. You know, if it's my mom, I can't really do anything about it. I loved her so much that i don't want to hurt her in anyway possible.
We just arrived. The ride was not that long since we took airplane instead of a bus. My relatives soon welcomed me warmly.
It's nice to be back here. I remembered when i was a child, probably five or six years old, I used to play with my cousin who's this older than me and younger than me. My aunts and uncle's will then cook for our snacks or a lunch."Look who's back, my pretty apo", the old man in a wheelchair soon entered the room.
"Grandpa-Dad!," I screamed as soon as I embraced him. "I miss you so much." I mean it, I really do. When i was a child, my grandpa used to be by my side along with my parents not until they move here after being involved in a car accident which got him into a wheelchair.
"And so am I, apo. Your cousins too."
"Hey cauz! Yieeeeeee welcome to your new home !", the girl who's older than me went to me and hugged me instantly without my consent.
"Ate Fei woah calm down. I-I can't b-breath," as soon as she unleashed me, i breathed harder, as if i'm having a sprinting contest with my breath.
"Sorry, didn't mean that. Just happy to see you." She smiled while holding one of my hands. "Come. I'll introduced you to Keit (She's pertaining to her younger brother).
I soon get along quickly with Keit and Fei because they're my favorite cousins. Nothing will change even if we don't see each other for a long time.
I involved myself in the conversation with my relatives but as soon as they talked about me having boyfriends, I soon exit. All they blabber is that, "H'wag ka muna magboyfriend iha. Mag-aral muna." Like who wouldn't be bored with such conversation. Do i look like as if i'm the kind of girl who is easily be persuade by some handsome guy out there. (Well, i admit, i am, once. Nevertheless, i learned my lesson. that asshole)As I went and scan my room, Fei entered too.
"What are you hiding in there?", I asked as soon as I noticed her hands behind her back.
"Uh–", she soon gave it to me. It's a bag, a shoulder bag having a cream color. It has a nice design on it too, more like a feminine one. "I wanted to give you this as a welcome gift. You know, my mom–uh your dad's older sister just arrived from Singapore and since we've got a news you're moving here, I think it's a nice present"
"Just don't think of it like as if I'm bribing you to stay here and forget your hometown", she giggled and wave her goodbye. "Bye cauz! See you at dinner !"
"W-Wait", she took a step back in and waited for my next words. "Thanks for this." She smiled at me while closing the door.
After 2 months, school year is about to begin again.
I groaned as soon as mom waked me up at 5 AM to get ready for school."Mom, it's too early," I said, half asleep still.
"Hurry up or you'll be late. I bet you don't want to be labelled as 'transferee student being late in her first day'"
Yes, ofcourse I don't want to. I soon get up and eat my breakfast before going to bathroom.
My dad drives me to school along with my cousin, Fei. Since she's in her senior high school year, we differ in school."Goodluck on your first day, sweetie." My dad said as he gave me the money.
I just smiled and bid goodbye to them and Fei.Upon entering the school, a warm breezed welcomes me. I hold both of my shoulders using my bare hands and makes my way to the entrance.
I'm in my 9th grade now. Funny how my mom and dad decided to enroll me in such school because of this one apparent reason.
They wanted me to not have any connection to any boys (unless its my cousins) so i can totally focus on my studies. I can't help myself but to smile whenever I recalled 'em saying it. As if it's the boys that are my one and only destruction.
"Hey." Someone patted my shoulder.
I got startled as this girl tried to approached me. "Oh, pardon me for startling you. Are you new here?"
I don't know but i find this girl a kind one."U-uh yes, a transferee," I said as i make her see my ID where my name is being imprinted.
"Oh great name. Your parents must love reading fantasy novels. Well, see you around then, Chanthira." she smiled as soon as she said those and make her way towards the long corridor.
Dumb shit. I'm blocking the entryway, that's why.
