Sam's POV:
"Are you nervous?" Ashley asks. "A little, but I'm also really excited." I replied. I was really excited to play my new song. Then Ashley will know why I ran upstairs. I've been waiting to show her and I can't wait. As they called awards, I look over at Ashley and rest my arm on the back of her chair. She doesn't realize it though. She is smiling and looks like the happiest girl in the world. I can't help but smile at her happiness, it's contagious. Hunter was presenting the New Artist Of The Year Award tonight. When he walked on stage to present it, my heart pounded. "And the winner of this year's New Artist Of The Year Award goes to..... SAM HUNT!!!!" He announced and looked over at me as I stand with Ashley, giving her a hug before going up on stage. Hunter hands me the microphone and the award. "I am so thankful for this award. I never thought I would actually make it this far. I would like to appreciate my fans, friends, and family. I would also like to thank my best friend, Ashley, for giving me confidence and preventing me from giving up, without her, I wouldn't be standing on this stage. Thank you!" It was time for me to perform, I was nervous. I was getting ready to play my new song. "Hey y'all I'm gonna play my new song 'House Party'." I glance over at Ashley and I see her eyes light up and she smiles."We'll have a house party, we don't need nobody. Turn your TV off, break that boom-box out."
Ashley's POV:
My jaw dropped. Sam had written a song from two words that I said. When Sam came back to his seat, I looked at him with a smile. "I really like that song, how did you come up with it?" I said with a small laugh. "Well, you see I had a friend over and she said 'House Party' and it gave me an idea." He said laughing. We watched the rest of the award show and talked about some of the artist. Hunter had handed him something on the way out, I was unaware of what it was."That was the best birthday ever!" I said when Sam and I got in the car. "Tonight was amazing." Sam says as he starts the car. It wasn't a very long ride home. When he dropped you off, he stood in the doorway for a long time, it was a bit awkward. "Uh, I meant to give this to you." He said awkwardly. He handed me a slip of paper. "Bye, see ya later." He said as he walked towards his car. "Bye Sam."
I sat on the couch and looked at the slip of paper, it had a number on it. Under the number it said Hunter. "Did Sam do this by accident?" I thought to myself. I stared at the paper with an intense gaze, thinking this was unreal, that today was just a dream. I dialed the number. It rang a couple times before there was an answer.
"Hey, who is this?" A voice said from the other line, it was Hunter's voice. "Uh, it's Ashley." You say awkwardly. "Oh hey Ashley!" Hunter replied. "So." I said awkwardly. It was kinda awkward talking to one of my heros, I didn't wanna say something awkward."Uh, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out sometime?" Hunter said. "Sure, that'd be great!" I say with a huge smile on my face." "Will tommorow at two be fine?" Hunter ask. "Yeah, that'd be great." I reply. "I'll see you tomorrow then" Hunter replies, then hangs up the phone.
