The Dream

Zita stared down the barrel of the aisle. It was her wedding day. All the guests turned to face her. Their faces were as hard as fists as she marched to the altar. When she finally arrived, she stood there, alone. No officiant. No betrothed. Just her, and her fear and the blackening sky that had suddenly turned rageful with wind and thunder.

Everything turned black. The only thing emitting light was the white flashes in the sky. The civil hall started to rattle. Everything around her shook ,and Zita couldn't breathe. A shock of lightning set the wedding venue alight. The princess stood immobile as flames surrounded her. She couldn't run. She could only be consumed by them.

She thrashed awake.
